The wait is finally over, MIUI 13 is here! Yes, Xiaomi has officially announced the anticipated MIUI 13, the newest version of Xiaomi’s custom skin MIUI. The new skin comes with a bunch of new features. The company also details the eligible devices, availability, and other details of the MIUI 13 skin. Xiaomi is going to release MIUI 13 along with Android 12 on many phones, some may get it with Android 11 (or even Android 10). MIUI is one of the most popular custom OS and it is available for Xiaomi phones. It is known for its highly customizable features.

MIUI 13 is going to come to many Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco phones. And it is based on either Android 11 or Android 12 depending on the eligibility. Android 12 is the latest Android OS which is being made available to more devices. Xiaomi has many devices in its inventory and so there can be delays when it comes to the Android 12 update same as Android 11. But MIUI 13 update may arrive early on many devices.

MIUI 13 Announcement

Xiaomi has officially announced the newest version of MIUI – MIUI 13 on December 28th along with its latest flagship smartphone, dubbed as, Xiaomi 12. The company has also announced the MIUI for bigger display devices with MIUI (13) Pad naming. MIUI Pad is optimized for tablets, foldable, and other big-screen devices.

According to the company, there are over 3,000 apps optimized for the new MIUI Pad OS. Aside from MIUI Pad, MIUI 13 is coming with a number of new features for normal phones. Let’s take a look at the features available in the MIUI 13.

MIUI 13 is seeding with a slew of new features, the list includes a bunch of personalization goodies, improved security and privacy, new widgets system, and more.

MIUI 13 Personalization features

The latest version of MIUI – MIUI 13 comes with a big list of user interface changes. There’s a new font system for MIUI, the new font is labeled as MiSans. Although MIUI supports a ton of different fonts through MIUI themes, the addition of the default system font is great. If you like to try different fonts, you will get to experience a new font that is optimized symmetrical. The font is free to download for personal and commercial use.

The second big personalization feature across MIUI 13 is the new widgets system, acquired from the Android 12 OS. Yes, you can now add the big modern widgets on your Xiaomi phone’s home screen. Apart from that, there are 41 wallpapers coming with the MIUI 13, you can grab the MIUI 13 wallpapers here. There’s no information about the dynamic theming, which is one of the biggest highlights of the Android 12 OS.

Improved Privacy and Security

Xiaomi implements a three-step verification in MIUI 13 for privacy purposes, this feature could work in certain regions. The layer has facial recognition in its first phase, joined by the user ID layer and the electronic fraud protection.

Since Xiaomi already entered a bunch of IoT markets, the environment for Xiaomi users will be better with MIUI 13. All the Xiaomi devices connected to one Network will cooperate fluently. And so it will reduce many tasks and save time.

MIUI 13 Pad

Mi Pad series is popular in some markets. And following the footsteps of Apple, Xiaomi has introduced a specific version of MIUI called MIUI 13 Pad which is exclusive to the Mi Pad series. It is designed for tablets and big screen phones. For now, the OEM has only mentioned its availability for the Mi Pad series and so we can’t say if it will be available on different form factor devices like Mi Mix Fold.
