The latest Windows 11 upgrade is rolling out to the release preview channel and labeled with the 22000.917 build number. Microsoft is pushing the new cumulative update to eligible PCs with a big list of fixes and a few changes here are there. Microsoft releases the new incremental upgrade with Windows 11 22000.917 (KB5016691) software version. It is a small incremental upgrade, which you can quickly install on your PC. It is an optional upgrade that will be made available later this month on the release preview channel.
Talking about the changes, then the non-security update gives admins an ability to remotely add languages and language-related features. The update also brings enhancements to Microsoft Defender to identify and intercept ransomware and advanced attacks. There’s another change in the cumulative update which is related to SMB (Server Message Block) compression, where files are now compressed regardless of its size. Obviously, the new incremental upgrade also addresses many issues on the new update, here’s the complete changelog.

- We fixed an issue that prevents HyperVisor Code Integrity from being enabled automatically on systems that have Arm64 processors.
- We fixed an issue that stops non-Windows devices from authenticating. This issue occurs when they connect to a Windows-based remote desktop and use a smart card to authenticate.

This issue occurs when LSASS processes simultaneous Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) over Transport Layer Security (TLS) requests that fail to decrypt. The exception code is 0xc0000409 (STATUS_STACK_BUFFER_OVERRUN).
- We fixed an issue that affects a lookup for a nonexistent security ID (SID) from the local domain using read-only domain controller (RODC). The lookup unexpectedly returns the STATUS_TRUSTED_DOMAIN_FAILURE error instead of STATUS_NONE_MAPPED or STATUS_SOME_MAPPED.
- We fixed an issue that might cause the Local Security Authority Server Service (LSASS) to leak tokens. This issue affects devices that have installed Windows updates dated June 14, 2022 or later. This issue occurs when the device performs a specific form of service for user (S4U) in a non-Trusted Computing Base (TCB) Windows service that runs as Network Service.
As I said earlier, it is an optional upgrade that will be available in the coming days. If you joined the release preview channel in the Windows Insider program, then you can simply open the Settings app, then head over to the Windows Update, click on Check for Updates in case it is not showing new updates to you, once you see the update, click on download and install.
