Microsoft released Windows 11 22H2 to the Release Preview Channel

The wait is finally over, we’re close to the release of the much-awaited Windows 11 22H2 update. Today, Microsoft kicks off the new build to the release preview channel in Windows Insider. Moreover, the upgrade goes live for businesses who opted for the release preview channel in Windows Insider Program for Businesses. It is also available in the Azure Marketplace and Windows Server Update Service. Read along to know more details about the big release.

Microsoft plants the new Windows 11 22H2 update with a 22621 build number. Currently, the big upgrade is available to Windows 11 users via the release preview channel. Microsoft will begin pushing the 22621 build cumulative updates with fixes and improvements later this month. The final stage of testing requires a couple of months and will be widely rolled out to the public by October.

Before moving ahead let’s talk about the features coming with the Windows 11 22H2 update. Microsoft will release the 22H2 (22621) build with new Start menu features, redesigned Task Manager, Mica integration to more system apps, drag and drop support is back to the taskbar, new snap layouts drag and drop interface, new live and voice captions feature, touch gestures for tablets, and more. Apart from these changes, the update will also come with system-wide enhancements and fixes to known issues.

If you want to access the new features coming to the Windows 11 with the 22H2 major upgrade, then you can update your Windows 11 system by joining the release preview channel in Windows Insider Program. Even after joining the release preview channel, it is an optional upgrade, which means it will not automatically be installed on your system, you can click on the download button if you want to upgrade to the new version.

After releasing the Windows 11 22H2, Microsoft will bump the beta channel up for the next year’s 23H2 update, which is going to be the next major version of Windows 11. The testing for 23H3 is already up for developers in Windows Insider Program, but, the updates are not coming anytime soon.

As mentioned earlier, if youโ€™ve joined the release preview channel in Insider Preview Program and running on Windows 11, then youโ€™ll receive the Windows 11 22H2 build. You can simply head over to Settings > Windows Update > click on Check for Updates and update your system to the new version by tapping the download button.
