Apple has finally launched its latest iPhone 16 series at the โItโs Glowtimeโ event. The new iPhone 16 lineup has various upgrades, most notably the base model now packs Action and Camera control buttons. This year, Apple has also worked on leveling up the charging speed for all models.
Since Apple doesnโt disclose numbers, you might want to know these numbers. Here you will know the iPhone 16 charging speed, and how fast can you charge iPhone 16 models.
At launch events, Apple only talks about the percentage of performance increase but never reveals numbers when it comes to battery and charging speed, and this leaves customers wondering what their device has. Also, you will need numbers to know where your device stands in comparison to other devices.
The iPhone 15 series comes with a maximum charging speed of 29W which is not even close to the competition. Many Android phones now come with 45W or better charging speed. Fortunately, this year Apple has also increased the charging speed of the iPhone 16 series.
iPhone 16 Charging Speed
The iPhone 16 lineup has four models; iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Unlike the iPhone 15 lineup, all four models now come with the same charging speed.
All iPhone 16 models support 45W wired charging and 25W MagSafe charging. Yes, the non-Pro models also come with 45W charging speed.
Charging speed on last year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max was limited to 29W via Type-C, while MagSafe charging was limited to 15W.
So this is a significant improvement over last year. With this upgrade, the iPhone now has better charging speeds than some Galaxy S24 models that still only support 25W charging.
This is confirmed through details submitted to the China Quality Certification Center, which also made it to Weibo via ShrimpApplePro. The certification details show that the iPhone 16 has been tested at 5-15V and 3 amps, which indicates 45W charging support.
Apple has mentioned that the iPhone 16 Pro Max can be charged up to 50% in 35 minutes, while other models can be charged up to 50% in 30 minutes. However, these numbers are not specifically from the 45W adapter.
The new iPhone 16 lineup will be available in stores soon. Once it is available, we will know how fast the iPhone 16 can be charged with the 45W charging in reality.
Remember, to use 45W charging, youโll need an adapter from Apple rated at least 45W.
