Apple began the iOS 18 journey with the release of its first developer beta on June 10. After a week gap, Apple now releases the second beta to developers. iOS 18 Beta 2 introduces some new features and the first set of bug fixes. Here’s everything new in the iOS 18 Beta 2 update for iPhone.
Along with the second beta of iOS 18, the tech giant also released iPadOS 18 Beta 2, macOS 15 Sequoia Beta 2, watchOS 11 Beta 2, tvOS 18 Beta 2, and visionOS 2 Beta 2. Talking about build number iOS 18 Beta 2 and iPadOS 18 Beta 2 come with 22A5297f.
The second beta update weighs 6.73GB on my iPhone 13. However, the size could vary depending on the update you are coming from and the device you own.

iOS 18 Beta 2: What’s New?
Coming to What’s New in iOS 18 Beta 2, the update brings several new features that were not available in the first beta but were announced at the event. It includes the RCS Messaging support in Messages. It will let users share messages, media, and emojis in real time with Android phone users. Currently, it’s available only in the US.
In the Messages settings, there is also a Satellite Messaging demo that shows how messages will work if there is no cellular and WiFi connection available on the iPhone.
iPhone Mirroring is another major addition to iPhone and Mac with the second beta for both devices. With iPhone Mirroring you can easily mirror your iPhone to Macs with the same Apple ID. You can now receive iPhone Notifications, and take actions from your Mac without touching your iPhone.
App Store icon gets Dark Mode support. This dark mode icon feature was added in the first beta, but it was not available for the App Store.
Files app now give options to format an external drive when you select the Erase option.
In iOS 18 beta 2, it now requires a long press on the Power icon in the Control Center for the Slide to Power Off option. The Shazam pop-up menu in the Control Center gets revamped.
There are many small changes like text or wording changes, new splash screens for different apps, and more. Apple has also fixed a bunch of known issues reported in the first beta.
If you have already installed the first beta, the second beta will appear on the software update page. But if you haven’t done so, you can just select the developer beta in Beta Updates and the update will appear instantly. However, I recommend waiting for the public beta which is scheduled to arrive early next month. Also when you switch to beta, don’t forget to back up your device.
