After releasing the iOS 18.3 in the last week of January, Apple has now released a small minor update. The iOS 18.3.1 update is now available for eligible models including the iPhone Xr and newer models. The new minor update focuses on bug fixes and security improvements. It may also address some issues that are not widely known.
Last week, Macrumors reported that the minor update was coming, and it’s already here ahead of the iOS 18.4 beta release. Apple may begin testing iOS 18.4 as early as this week.
Along with the iOS 18.3.1 update, Apple also released the iPadOS 18.3.1, iPadOS 17.7.5, watchOS 11.3.1, macOS Sequoia 15.3.1, macOS Sonoma 14.7.4, macOS Ventura 13.7.4, and visionOS 2.3.1.
The latest minor update ships with build number 22D72 and is around 500MB in size depending on your device.
As mentioned earlier, this is a minor update and doesn’t bring big changes. Nevertheless, it’s an important update for users who’ve already installed iOS 18.3, as it addresses critical bugs and includes security updates.
If you have an eligible iPhone, the latest iOS 18.3.1 update will be accessible on the Software Update page within the Settings app. However, if you’ve opted for the beta, you might not get the update, but you can easily switch to the public build.
Before installing the update, make sure to take a backup of your important data and charge your phone to at least 50%.
