Apple released the iOS 15.4 Release Candidate and iPadOS 15.4 Release Candidate builds to developers and public beta testers. The RC build was expected last week and so the public build can be released today, which is March 8, the peek performance event day. But last week Apple released the fifth beta. Finally, the release candidate is available. Here’s all about iOS 15.4 RC and iPadOS 15.4 RC.
The release candidate build is released just before the public build if Apple does not decide to release a second RC. Earlier it was called GM or Golden Master build. It contains the same build number as the public build which will be released next week. As we mentioned in our story article, it seems the expected date for the public build is true.
Along with iOS 15.4 RC and iPadOS 15.4 RC, Apple also released macOS Monterey 12.3 RC, watchOS 8.5 RC, and tvOS 15.4 RC. Both iOS 15.4 Release Candidate and iPadOS 15.4 Release Candidate come with build number 19E241. As it is an RC build the update size will be bigger. Also, it carries all the features that are released in all five beta updates. And the same features and changes will be released to the public.
As mentioned earlier, iOS 15.4 RC and iPadOS 15.4 RC are available to registered developers and public beta testers. It means if you are on the beta build or beta profile installed on your device, then you will receive the OTA update. Since it is the same as public build you will not receive the update next week. You can manually check for the update in Settings > General > Software Update.
In case you are on the iOS 15.3.1 public build, I recommend waiting for a week and it will arrive as an OTA update. But you can also install the beta profile to get beta and RC builds.
Before updating your iPhone or iPad, make sure to charge it at 50% and take a backup. As it is a beta update there can be some bugs.
