iOS 13.6.1 and iPadOS 13.6.1 released for iPhones and iPads

Following the regular updates this week Apple released the iOS 13.6.1 public stable update along with iPadOS 13.6.1. Last week we were expecting the beta of the same but after didn’t see any iOS 13 beta. But finally, Apple released the iOS 13.6.1 and it is available to everyone.

Here we will discuss the iOS 13.6.1 new features and how to install iOS 13.6.1 update to your iPhone.

We are getting this stable update after almost a month since the previous stable public build. And so you can expect a lot of bugs fixes if you have any on your Apple phone. But it is highly unlikely that we get new features. The update is available to all iPhones and iPads running on iOS 13 and iPadOS 13. iOS 13.6.1 update

Apple has also released macOS Catalina 10.15.6 Supplemental update along with iOS 13.6.1 and iPadOS 13.6.1. The iOS 13.6.1 public update comes with Software version 17G80. In the last iOS 14 beta, Apple pushed a Modem update but in iOS 13.6.1 there is no change in the Modem version.

iOS 13.6.1 and iPadOS 13.6.1 Updates

The update fixes many known issues and we will discuss here. In case if you had any Network related issue then it may not be fixed in this update as it has the same old modem version.

Storage Fix: Many users addressed the storage issue a long ago where the storage manager shows that the memory is filled with other files. But with the new update, it is fixed and now it shows the correct storage information.

Green Tint Fix: The latest update also addressed the Green tint issue and it is fixed with this update. So if you had the green tint issue on your OLED phone then it may longer appear on your phone.

Along with the above two fixes, the Exposure notification has been also fixed where some users have it disabled by default. But with recent updates, they have fixed the issue and you can now use it if you have any third party apps for this.

So these are a few changes or fixes that Apple has addressed in the update log but if you explore you can find some minor bug fixes as well.

There are no new features we found in the update and also it is not mentioned in the update changelog. But if you find any new feature then let us know in the comment section.

If we talk about the iPadOS 13.6.1 then it also received the patch which fixed the storage issue. And nothing major that we noticed in the iPadOS.

Now let’s see how you can get the iOS 13.6.1 or iPadOS 13.6.1 on your Apple device.

Download and Install iOS 13.6.1 and iPadOS 13.6.1

The update rolled out a few hours ago but in case if you have enabled the automatic updates then it is possible that you may not get the update notification. But if you check manually after disabling the automatic option, you will get the latest update on your phone.

Here’s the common procedure to check for updates manually on iPhones and iPads.

  1. Connect your phone to an active Internet connection.
  2. Open Settings and then go to General.
  3. Under General open the Software Update option.
  4. Now you can see the latest iOS 13.6.1 and iPadOS 13.6.1 update on your device.
  5. Click on the Download and Install button.
  6. It will download and after reboot, you can enjoy the latest update.

In case if you are on the beta update, then you can remove the beta profile from your device to get the latest public update. You can reinstall the profile if you want to try Beta updates again.

You can also install the updates manually with iTunes or Finder. You can use IPSW files if you are planning to install it through your computer.

In case if you are on the iOS 14 beta and want to downgrade to iOS 13 then you can check this guide.
