While you can play tons of VR games, did you know that you can now run Windows 11 on your Meta Quest 3 or 3s? This is now a feature that can be used with Meta’s newest VR headsets.
With Windows 11 experiences on your Meta Quest 3 and 3s, you’ll have access to a whole new world of possibilities. Apart from just the Meta App Store for your games, you can also easily play your favorite VR versions of games available via the Steam client.

How to Run Windows 11 on your Meta Quest 3 and 3S?
To add Windows 11 to your Quest headset, youโll need a Windows 11 PC. To get this working properly your Windows 11 PC will have to meet or pass certain requirements, let’s dig into the requirements.
Minimum PC Requirements:
- OS: Windows 11 22H2 or newer
- Integrated GPU: Intel Core 8th gen CPU with UHD 620 or newer
- Dedicated GPUs: AMD Radeon RX 5000 series or Nvidia GTX 1090 and newer
- Wireless: Bluetooth Low Energy
- Networking: 802.11ac at 5GHz set at 20 MHz channel width
Additionally, your Meta Quest 3 or 3s needs to be running on HorizonOS v72 or newer. Here are the steps to check for the updates on your Meta Quest 3/3s.
- Grab the right-hand controller of your Meta Quest headset and press the Meta button.
- Select the clock present at the left of the universal menu.
- Open the Quick Settings option.
- Choose Settings followed by General.
- Finally, select Software Update.
- If a new version of HoirzonOS is available, it will be downloaded and installed on your Meta Quest VR headset.
Setup Meta Quest 3/3s with Windows 11 PC
Now that you know whether your system meets the requirements, is time to begin preparing both devices to get your Windows 11 experience on your Meta Quest 3/3s.
First off, on your Windows 11 PC, you will have to install the Mixed Reality Link app. Follow these steps.
- Launch the Microsoft Store on your Windows 11 PC. Click on the search bar and type in Mixed Reality Link.
- If you do not find the app, click on this link. This will be a preview version as Microsoft is still testing out the app.
- The app size is very small, weighing at just 37 MB. Once the app has been installed, launch the app.
With the PC setup out of the way, let’s take a look at how you can pair the Meta Quest VR headset to your PC via the Mixed Reality Link app.
- Press the Meta button on your right-hand controller.
- With the Universal menu open, select the clock on the left-hand side to open the Quick Settings menu.
- Choose Settings followed by Advanced.
- Switch the toggle On where it says Pair to PC with Mixed Reality Link.
- Ensure that your PC is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The PC needs to be nearby and unlocked.
- Your Meta Quest headset will now detect that your PC is nearby, and a Pair to PC prompt should appear on your headsetโs screen.
- Once you have paired the PC with your Meta Quest by following the on-screen instructions, you can now enjoy your Windows 11 PC virtually on your Meta Quest VR headset.
Once you can access Windows 11 virtually through your Meta Quest 3 or 3s VR headset, you can extend your screen by adding two more screens, one on each side of your main screen. This allows you to seamlessly switch between screens, drag your open applications to other screens and if you want, you can also change the virtual background instead of just having the camera’s feed in your roomโs background.
