Sometimes you need to capture exactly what you see on your iPhone screen, and that’s where a screenshot comes in. Luckily, taking a screenshot on an iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, or iPhone 13 Mini is just as easy as on the other iPhone models. Here’s how to take screenshots on iPhone 13.
Last week, Apple lifted the curtains off of its latest iPhone 13 Series of phones. They look very similar to their predecessors, the iPhone 12 series of phones. Due to this similarity, the functions they perform are also the same. However, in this article, we will talk about the screenshot functionality of the iPhone 13 series of phones.
There are two methods to take screenshots on the iPhone 13 series of phones, let us dive deep into both methods:
How to take screenshot on iPhone 13 with physical buttons
To take a screenshot on the iPhone 13 series of phones, briefly press the Side button (located on the right side of the device) and Volume Up button (located on the left side of the device) simultaneously.
After pressing the button combination simultaneously, you will hear a camera shutter sound effect (if your ringer isn’t muted), and a thumbnail of the screenshot will appear in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
If you ignore the thumbnail for a few seconds or swipe it to the left, it will disappear after a moment. Once the thumbnail vanishes, your iPhone will automatically save the screenshot to your Photos library.
But, if you tap on the thumbnail, you will see options to draw something on the screenshot, a shortcut to share it to other apps right from there, delete the screenshot, etc. We will get into the details in the next section.
Edit screenshots on iPhone 13:
If you tap the thumbnail that appears on the bottom-left corner of your iPhone’s screen just after taking a screenshot, a special editing mode will open. Using this editing mode, you can draw on the screenshot, rotate it, crop it, insert a signature, annotate the image, and otherwise share it with others directly from there.
If you want to delete the screenshot without saving it, tap the trash can icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, this comes in handy if you want to delete the screenshot after sharing it with others.
When you’re finished editing, tap on “Done” in the upper-left corner of the screen and select “Save to Photos.” The resulting image will be saved to your Album > Screenshots library in the Photos app.
How to take screenshots on iPhone 13 without using buttons
There are several ways to take screenshots on the iPhone 13 series of phones without pressing any hardware buttons. (These can come in handy if you have a broken button or if you have difficulty performing the hardware-button screenshot method).
Back Tap:
One of the most fun ways to take screenshots without using any buttons is by using Back Tap, an accessibility feature that allows you to set functions that are performed when you double-tap or triple-tap on the back of your iPhone. The same method is available for Android phones that you can check here.
To enable this feature:
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap on Accessibility.
- Tap on Touch.
- Tap on Back Tap.
- And then assign “Screenshot” to any tap option of your choice.
You can now tap the back of your iPhone two or three times as per the number of taps you have set in settings to capture a screenshot.
AssistiveTouch:
You can also capture a screenshot using AssistiveTouch.
To enable Assistivetouch:
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap on Accessibility.
- Tap on Touch.
- Then tap on AssistiveTouch.
- And then assign “Screenshot” to one of the custom actions.
- Or, you can open the AssistiveTouch menu and select Device > More > Screenshot to capture a screenshot without pressing and buttons at any time.
Where are the screenshots saved on the iPhone 13?
No matter what method you used to capture a screenshot on your iPhone 13, you can find the screenshot that you just captured by launching the Photos App and navigating to the screenshot’s album (Album > Screenshots).
You can also see the screenshot in the “Recents” album in the Photos app. The iPhone saves screenshots as PNG files.
While viewing your screenshot in the Photos app, you can edit it or share it just like you would share any photo on your iPhone. You can also delete multiple screenshots by choosing “Select,” tapping on the photos that you want to delete and then tapping on the trash can icon in the bottom-right corner.
