How to Take a Screenshot on Google Pixel 9 (5 Methods)

Google Pixel 9, the latest flagship series from Google is now available with major upgrades. The series has four models including Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

If you have got yourself a Pixel 9 phone and want to capture screenshots on it, then you’re in luck. Here you will learn how to screenshot on Pixel 9. The methods I will share with you here will work for all Pixel 9 models.

Screenshot is an important feature for everyone who owns a smartphone. You can capture screenshots of pages that contain quality information, funny memes, photos you can’t download, and more. It is an important feature irrespective of the field you work in.

If you’re a new Pixel user, you may not be familiar with all the ways to take screenshot on Pixel 9. In this guide, I will list multiple methods that you can follow. It’s important to know multiple methods to take a screenshot on Pixel 9 so that if one method doesn’t work for some reason, you can try another method.

How to Screenshot on Pixel 9

Here I will mention all possible methods. Make sure to remember at least two ways that you find easy. Let’s start with the first method.

Screenshot using Physical buttons

Every smartphone comes with some physical buttons, mainly power and volume buttons. And using these buttons you can capture screenshots quickly. Here’s how it works on Google Pixel:

First, go to the page you want to capture in a screenshot.
Now hold the Power and Volume down keys together.
It will take a screenshot, which you can immediately edit, share or delete.

It will be stored in the Screenshot folder, that you can see in Gallery.

Back Tap to screenshot on Pixel 9

Google Pixel phone comes with back tap gesture support. Back tap gesture is quite popular for capturing screenshots, but you need to assign the function manually as this is not set by default. Here’s how to do it.

On your phone, navigate to Settings > System > Gestures.
Now open Quick Tap to start actions.
Here turn on the toggle to enable Quick Tap. And select Screenshot option.
Now open the page you want to capture and double-tap on the back of the phone and it will capture the screenshot.

You need to get used to how much pressure you need to apply during the back tap.

For users with foldable phone, this can be an the best method as taking screenshot with physical button folds the device sometimes. Here’s how to screenshot on Pixel 9 using recent apps window.

First, open the page/app you want to capture on screenshot.
Next, open the recent apps screen by swiping from bottom to the middle screen or use recent app button if you are not using gestures.
In the recent apps, you will see Screenshot option below your page, tap on it.
It will capture the screenshot immediately and give you a preview at the bottom.

Ask Google Gemini to Take a Screenshot

Pixel 9 series is powered by the Gemini AI model. And you can do a lot of things with Gemini including capturing a screenshot. It is a Google Assistant on steroids.

Make sure the Gemini app is setup. If it is not your default assistant, you can switch to Gemini from Google Assistant.

Open the page or app you want to capture.
Launch Google Gemini with a swipe up from the bottom corner or long-pressing the side key.
After launching Gemini, say take a screenshot or capture screenshot.
It will capture the screenshot and you will see a green check mark.

You will find the screenshot in the same Screenshot folder.

How to Take a Scrolling Screenshot on Pixel 9

If you want to a scrolling screenshot on your Pixel 9, you can follow this method. Scrolling screenshot also known as long screenshot let you capture the part that is not visible on a single page. Let’s say you have a long list of groceries that you want to capture in a single screenshot but only a few are visible on the screen, in this case, you can take a scrolling screenshot.

First, go to the page or app you want to capture.
Take the screenshot using one of the first three methods. You will see the screenshot preview at the bottom corner with options like share, edit, etc. Google assistant/Gemini method doesn’t show preview.
Tap on Capture More button.
It will give you crop like frame that you can drag to the point you want to capture in screenshot.
Then tap Save and the long screenshot will be saved in the Screenshot folder.

Note: Some apps or page does not support long screenshot. The capture more button will not appear if an app/page doesn’t support long format screenshot.
