How to Root Realme X2 & Install TWRP Recovery [Guide]

How to Install TWRP Recovery on Realme X2

  1. Transfer the download TWRP Recovery image to your phone storage.
  2. Make sure the bootloader is unlocked and OEM unlocking is enabled. How to Root Realme X2
  3. Power off your Realme X2.
  4. Press & hold Volume Up + Power button together to boot Realme X2 into Fastboot Mode.
  5. Release the buttons when you see the Fastboot mode screen.
  6. Once the Realme X2 in Fastboot mode, connect it to your computer.
  7. Copy the TWRP Recovery image file to the computer (C:\adb). And rename the twrp recovery image file to twrp.img.
  8. In C:\adb folder, press Shift + Right click on an empty area and select ‘Open PowerShell window here’ or ‘Open Command window here’. How to Root Realme X2
  9. In the Command/PowerShell window enter the below command
    • fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
  10. After the above command you can reboot your phone to TWRP (Press & hold Volume Down + Power button).

Once the TWRP Recovery is installed you can use all of its amazing features. It also helps in case the phone goes into bootloop. So for TWRP Recovery, there is no negative point except you need to unlock the bootloader. You can root Realme X2 in two different ways. In the first method, we will be using the TWRP Recovery while in the second method we will guide you to root Realme X2 with a patched boot image.

Root Realme X2 with TWRP Recovery

This method is for those users who have installed TWRP Recovery on your phone. So if you want to root Realme X2 without installing the TWRP Recovery then skip this and follow the next method.

  1. Download Magisk zip and Magisk Manager APK on your phone.
  2. Take a full backup before proceeding further so that you can restore data in case of any issue.
  3. Now turn off your device.
  4. Press & hold Volume Down + Power button together to boot Realme X2 in Recovery mode.
  5. Release the buttons once you see the TWRP logo.
  6. In TWRP Recovery, click on Install and locate the Magisk Zip. How to Root Realme X2

  9. Install the Magisk Manager App and enjoy root on Realme X2.

This is one way to root Realme X2 which needs TWRP or another custom recovery. Let’s now talk about the second method which doesn’t require TWRP Recovery.

Root Realme X2 with Magisk Patched Boot Image

Now here’s the guide for those users who don’t want to install a custom recovery on their phones. Collect all the requirements that are necessary to root the Realme X2.



  1. Extract the boot.img from the downloaded Firmware.
  2. Install Magisk Manager App on your Realme X2.
  3. Now create a boot patch file from Magisk Manager (Guide here).
  4. The patched file will be stored in the Download folder with name magisk_patched.img.
  5. Copy the magisk_patched.img to the computer (C:\adb).
  6. Rename it to boot.img (magisk_patched.img to boot.img).
  7. In C:\adb folder, press Shift + Right click on an empty area and select ‘Open PowerShell window here’ or ‘Open Command window here’. How to Root Realme X2
  8. Now power off your phone. Press & hold Volume Up + Power button together to boot Realme X2 into Fastboot Mode. Once you see the Fastboot screen release both buttons.
  9. Connect your phone to the computer and enter the below command in the Command/PowerShell window
    • fastboot flash boot boot.img
  10. Now enter the below command to reboot the phone into the system.
    • fastboot reboot
  11. Once the phone boot into the system, install the Magisk Manager App and open it.
  12. Follow the in-app instructions which will reboot your device once.
  13. That’s all now you have successfully rooted your Realme X2.
