So first download the twrp recovery and proceed with the installation process.

After downloading the TWRP recovery follow the below instructions to install the TWRP recovery. But before we move to steps here are the requirements that you need.

Prerequisites

• Download TWRP Recovery image (use the above link)
• Install ADB & Fastboot driver on your PC
• Take a full backup of your phone
• The bootloader must be unlocked

How to Install TWRP Recovery on Mi Note 10

1. Make sure the bootloader is unlocked and OEM unlocking is enabled.
2. Power off your Mi Note 10 with the Power button.
3. Press & hold Volume Down + Power button together to boot Mi Note 10 into Fastboot Mode.
4. When you see Fastboot mode screen release both buttons.
5. Connect Mi Note 10 to your computer while the device in Fastboot Mode.
6. Copy the TWRP Recovery image file to the computer (C:\adb). And rename the twrp recovery image file to twrp.img.

So for TWRP Recovery, there is no negative point except you need to unlock the bootloader. You can root Mi Note 10 in two different ways. In the first method, we will be using the TWRP Recovery while in the second method we will guide you to root Mi Note 10 with a patched boot image.

Root Mi Note 10 with TWRP Recovery

This method is for those users who have installed TWRP Recovery on your phone. So if you want to root Mi Note 10 without installing the TWRP Recovery then skip this method and follow the next one.

1. First, download Magisk zip and Magisk Manager APK on your phone.
2. Before you proceed to the next step make sure to take a full backup so that you can restore data if anything goes wrong.
3. Now turn off your phone.
4. Then boot Mi Note 10 into TWRP Recovery mode. For this Press & hold Volume Up + Power button together.
5. Once you see the TWRP logo, Release the buttons.
6. Now in TWRP Recovery, click on Install and locate the Magisk Zip.
7. Then swipe the slider to flash Magisk and root Mi Note 10.
8. After flashing Magisk go to Reboot > System to boot the device into the system.
9. Install the Magisk Manager App and enjoy root on Mi Note 10.

Root Mi Note 10 with Magisk Patched Boot Image

Now here’s the guide for those users who don’t want to install a custom recovery on their phones.Before you proceed to steps collect all the requirements that are necessary to root the Mi Note 10.

Prerequisites:-

• Take a full backup of your data from your phone
• Download Magisk & Magisk Manager
• Download firmware of your phone (the same version recommended which is installed)
• Install ADB & Fastboot drivers on your computer
• The bootloader must be unlocked

Steps:-

1. Extract the boot.img from the downloaded Firmware.
2. In your Mi Note 10 install Magisk Manager App.
3. You need a patch file so create a boot patch file from Magisk Manager (Guide here).
4. After patching the patched file will be stored in the Download folder with name magisk_patched.img.
5. Copy the magisk_patched.img to the computer (C:\adb).
6. Rename the file to boot.img (magisk_patched.img to boot.img).
7. In C:\adb folder, press Shift + Right click on an empty area and select ‘Open PowerShell window here’ or ‘Open Command window here’.
8. Then turn off your phone. Press & hold Volume Down + Power button together to boot Mi Note 10 into Fastboot Mode. Once you see the Fastboot screen release both buttons.
9. Connect your phone to the computer and enter the below command in the Command/PowerShell window

   • fastboot flash boot boot.img

10. Now enter the below command to reboot the phone into the system.

    • fastboot reboot

11. Once the phone boot into the system, install the Magisk Manager App and open it.
12. Follow the in-app instructions which will reboot your device once.
13. That’s all now you have successfully rooted Mi Note 10 without losing any data.
