xAI has launched its new AI tool, called the Grok Imagine, which creates both images and videos. However, unlike Google’s Veo 3 and OpenAI’s Sora, it is not a completely prompt-based video generation tool. You would need an image alongside, and the AI will turn it into a short video. It works very similarly to the legacy tool Vine, and that’s why Elon Musk himself addresses Grok Imagine as “AI Vine.”
The best part about the Grok Imagine is that it is available to free users as well (but for a very limited time). Once the free usage has been removed, it will be available for X Premium+ and Grok Heavy users. As of right now, both iOS and Android apps can generate videos and images. However, on iOS, you can choose different video modes.
How to Use Grok Imagine on iPhones
As told earlier, the iPhone’s application of Grok can do both image and video generation. Let’s see how you can do that step-by-step:
Step 1: Install the Grok AI application from the App Store (or update it to the latest version if you have it already). You can log in with your X/Twitter account or your email. However, if you are a Premium+ user of X, make sure to log in using it.
Step 2: Once logged in, open the application. You will now see two tabs at the top of your screen. Click on “Imagine.”
Step 3: You will see multiple images with their prompts on the screen. If you want, you can click any of the images and change its prompt to change the image. However, if you want to create a fresh image, just type the prompt (for image only) in the prompt box and hit enter.
Step 4: Once the image is generated, you can download or share it directly from the page. However, if you want to turn it into a video, then click on the “Make Video” button present right below the image.
Step 5: Your video will be ready in a few seconds. But this is not where it ends, you can generate Custom, Spicy, Fun, and Normal types of videos. Spikcy mode allows you to create an NSFW video. It also supports speak-to-video, and you can use it by clicking on the “Speak” button next to the prompt box.
How to Use Grok Imagine on Android
On Android, you can only generate images and a video out of it, using the Grok Imagine. There’s no official announcement confirming the availability of the video generation modes yet. Anyway, here is the step-by-step guide for using Grok Imagine on Android:
Step 1: Install the Grok AI app from the Play Store or update it if you have it installed already.
Step 2: Log in with your Gmail or X/Twitter account. X login is a must if you are a Premium+ subscriber.
Step 3: Open the app and then click on the “Imagine‘ button you will see at the top, right next to the Ask button.
Step 4: If you want to create an image or a video out of that particular image, then type the prompt in the prompt box and hit enter.
Step 5: You will see multiple images; click on the one you prefer. You may download or share the image. If you want to generate a video out of it, just click on the “Make Video” button.
BONUS: You can also create a video using any of your on-device images. To do that, simply click on the “Gallery” button you would see inside the prompt box. Now select your image. Now click on the “Make Video” button. That’s it. Pretty easy, isn’t it?
