How to Enable and Use Voice Message Transcriptions on WhatsApp
This is a brand-new feature that has been released by WhatsApp for Android as well as iOS devices. To use this feature, make sure that you install the latest available versions of the app from your deviceโs app store.
Here are the steps to enable Voice Message Transcriptions on Android and iOS devices.
- Launch WhatsApp on your smartphone.
- Tap on the three dots in the top right corner and choose Settings.

While this is a great feature to use when you are not able to listen to the voice message, do note that not all voice messages can be transcribed. Only voice messages in certain languages can be transcribed. The following are the supported languages
- English
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Russian
- Spanish
You can choose the default language for voice transcription by following these steps
- Tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the main screen of WhatsApp.
- Tap on Settings followed by Chats.
- Now tap on Voice Message Transcription.
- Here you will see the supported languages. Simply tap on the language of your choice.
