In June, Google kicked off a significant feature drop upgrade for Pixel phones, known as the June Feature Drop. The release includes an impressive collection of 22 new features, among which are two highly anticipated additions: the Cinematic Wallpapers and Emoji Wallpapers. These new wallpaper customization tools were initially previewed at Google’s annual developer conference, I/O 2023. Both new customization tools are now available on Pixel phones, here’s how you can create Emoji Wallpapers on Pixel phones.

Last year, Apple introduced a new way to customize iPhones with an option to make custom wallpaper using Emojis. The advent of Emoji Wallpapers allows Pixel users to craft cool and personalized backgrounds using Emojis. The new feature lets users mix and match over 4,000 emoji with different patterns and colors to create live wallpapers.

The new Emoji Workshop is compatible with Pixel 4a and later models. How to Create Emoji Wallpapers

To get started, open the Settings app, scroll down to the bottom, and then select System > System Updates. Be sure to check for any available new updates. If you are already on the latest software, you can follow these steps.

  1. Unlock your Pixel smartphone.
  2. Tap and hold an empty area on your home screen and select Wallpaper & Style.

  4. Now Select the Emoji Lab option to create a custom Emoji wallpaper.

  5. Tap the Edit Emoji option and start picking your favorite emojis to add to the wallpaper.

  6. You can add up to 14 emojis for a single background, or if you are looking for a random combination, simply tap randomize option.

  7. Once you are done with a combination, tap done or checkmark at the top right corner.
  8. Now choose a pattern from the following: Mosaic, Lotus, Stacks, Sprinkle, or Prism. Later you the slider to change the size of the emojis.

  9. The third option lets you change the background color, and pick any of your favorite colors.
