Cloud gaming is shaping up to take the gaming industry by storm. With a handful of cloud gaming service providers testing out their services, Amazon has decided to drop into cloud gaming called Luna. It is currently in an early access program. If you’ve got access to Amazon Luna and have controllers other than the one for Luna, then here is how to connect third-party controllers with Luna.
Now, Amazon Luna does have its controllers that you can purchase to play games on Luna. The Luna controller lets you connect to the Luna Controller Mobile app either through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Amazon stresses more on the Wi-Fi connection as it helps to reduce input lags. With that being said let’s look at how to use or connect a third-party controller in Luna.
List of Supported Controllers with Amazon Luna
Controllers of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 are supported quite fine on Luna. The newer generation consoles do have support but have issues with button mapping and you will have to kind of adjust the right buttons for Luna or probably memorize it. Controllers from other brands are however not yet supported.
Amazon Luna Platform Availability
Luna is available to a large number of devices, be Windows PC, Mac, and Amazon Fire TV. On mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads, and select Android devices running Android 9 and above you can get access to Luna via a web browser.
How to Connect third party controller to Luna via Fire TV
- Fire up the Fire TV
- Open up the menu and select Settings
- Head over to Controllers and Bluetooth Devices and select Game Controllers
- Now, click on Add a new game controller.
- Turn your controller on and let it be on pairing mode.
- Once the Fire TV finds your controller, select it to pair
And that’s it, that’s how you can pair your third-party controllers on to Luna.
Keyboard and Mouse support on Luna
Your keyboard and mouse will work quite fine on Luna if you are playing games on a Windows or Mac PC. Using a controller isn’t compulsory as it allows input from the above-mentioned devices.
Luna Controller – is it good?
Well, it’s Amazon’s product, so yes you can expect it to work just fine. You can connect it to your Fire TV easily just via Wi-Fi which as we said before reduces input lag and performs much better as compared to Bluetooth-connected controllers. Plus, with Alexa built-in into the controller, you can simply ask Alexa to directly take you into the game right away.
