When you set up and activate your Roku device, you can name your device if you wish to, but if you don’t name it, the device will automatically assign a generic name. You can also rename your device after the initial setup when it’s required. Today you will learn how to change Roku TV name.

While there is no problem with the generic or already assigned name, if you have multiple Roku devices, it becomes hard to identify them.

If you have multiple Roku devices of the same model in your home or workplace, you can rename them to make it easier to tell them apart. Also, if the Roku devices have an unhelpful name like Roku 3, Roku 4, or others, it becomes harder to connect to other devices.

So, whatever the reason, check out the below steps to change the name of your Roku TV.

How to Change Roku TV Name

Before changing the name of your Roku TV, you should find the serial number of the device you want to rename. To find your Roku serial number, follow the below steps:

Step 1: Turn on your Roku TV and navigate to Settings > System.

Step 2: Select About and note down your serial number on the System Info screen.

Now, you can’t directly rename Roku’s name from the device. You can make use of the Roku website and mobile app to change the name.

From the Roku Website

After getting the serial number, you need to cross-verify the device to change its name via the Roku website. Follow the below steps to locate your Roku device and change its name:

Step 1: Open a browser and visit the Roku website.

Step 2: Log in to your account using the credentials.

Step 3: Click on your profile icon at the top-right corner and select My account.

Step 4: Scroll down to the My linked devices section.

Step 5: Click on the pencil icon for the device whose name you want to change. If you see the Rename hyperlink, tap on it.

Step 6: Enter the new name you want to use for your device.

Step 7: Click Update to save it.

Step 8: Confirm it, and the new name will be reflected on your device.

From the Roku Mobile App

You can also change the name of your Roku device from the Roku mobile app. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices. Here’s how you can use it to change the name:

Step 1: Open the Roku mobile app on your phone. Sign in to your account if you have not already.

Step 2: Click on the Settings tab from the bottom menu.

Step 3: Tap on Switch Roku Device and click on Edit Name for the device whose name you want to change.

For some devices, you need to navigate to the Devices tab on the home screen. Click on the three-dot icon next to the device and choose Set Name and Location from the available options. Under Device Name, enter the new name, and finally tap the Save button.

Wrapping Up

So, these are the simple steps through which you can rename your Roku TV’s name. If you have a Roku mobile installed on your device, you can quickly change the name of the device in less than a minute.

However, if you don’t have the app or if it’s not working properly, you can always change the name through the Roku website, but for that, you should find the serial number. If you have any questions related to the article, let us know in the comments below.
