Screensavers on Smart TVs are present so that they help to prevent or at least reduce image retention. Ever left a TV on a single static screen for so long that the mark is always visible on the screen, regardless of what you play on your TV?
People want to enable and use screensavers on their LG Smart TVs because of such image retention issues or image burn-ins. Screensavers can be in the form of images from the internet or photographs that you may have captured.
So, if you are the owner of an LG Smart TV and want to know how to enable and change the screensaver on your LG TV, you’ve come to the right place.
How to Enable and Change the Screensaver on an LG Smart TV
The screensaver will be displayed on your LG TV’s screen when your TV screen is on and nothing is playing or streaming in the foreground or background. Here are the steps to enable the screensaver on your LG smart TV.
Screensavers on LG Smart TVs running on WebOS 5.0+
- Power up your LG smart TV and grab the remote.
- Now, press the Home button on the LG TVโs remote.
- Scroll through the options and select the Art gallery option.
- You will now see a bunch of screensavers/pictures to choose from.
- Highlight and press the Select key to choose an image Gallery.
You can also download and choose whichever screensaver/gallery you like and apply it to your LG TV. Do note that some of these screensavers have audio, so you can choose to have the audio muted or played when your screensaver is active.
Screensavers on LG Smart TVs running on WebOS 4.0 and Older
If you have an LG smart TV that was released in 2017 or older, you can follow these steps.
- Press the Home button on your Magic Remote.
- Navigate and select the Gallery app.
- Select the My Photos option and click on the Add button.
- Here you can browse and select photos of your choice. You can plug in a USB drive with your photos and browse through them.
- Select the photos that you want to display as a screensaver on your LG TV and click on the Complete button.
- Select your photos, and they should be displayed on your LG TV as a screensaver.
Enable Screensaver Promotions on other LG TVs
Some LG TV models might not have the Art Gallery app to enable the screensaver. In this case, you have the option to display promotional items from certain apps and the LG Channels app. Here is how you can enable that.
- Grab the remote and press the Settings button to pull up the Settings panel from the left side of your TV screen.
- Click on the Settings icon and choose General.
- Now, select System, followed by Additional Settings.
- Finally, select the Screensaver Promotion toggle and switch it on.
- You will now see a few promotional screensavers appear on your LG TV.
