How to change Wallpaper on Chromebook
If you have used a Windows PC or Mac, then you will find the process to change Chromebook wallpaper similar. Itโs quite easy. Letโs jump right into the steps.
Step 1: Open your Chromebook and right click on the Desktop. If you have a touch Chromebook, you can also touch and hold on the Desktop.
Step 2: A context menu will appear. Click or tap on Set Wallpaper.
Step 3: Similar to Smartphones, Chromebook also comes with many default wallpapers. You can choose your favorite wallpaper from stock or you can go to My Images to select any custom Wallpaper like a Picture.
Step 4: Once you select the wallpaper, it will be applied to your Chromebook Desktop.
Note: Chromebook support jpg and png images for wallpaper, so if an image not showing up to apply as wallpaper, make sure its extension is correct. If not, you can convert the image to either jpg or png.
Second Method to Change Chromebook Wallpaper
Step 1: Tap on the time and battery icon at the bottom right corner to access quick settings. Here click on the Settings/Gear icon.
Step 2: In Settings, go to Personalization tab followed by Set your wallpaper & style.
Step 3: Here click on the arrow next to Wallpaper, and then choose the wallpaper of your choice.
How to Turn On and Change Screen Saver on Chromebook
If you like screen saver instead of static wallpaper, then you can enable it on your Chromebook. Users with School and work accounts can not access screensaver, but if you have a personal Chromebook, you can do it.
Follow the first two step from the previous method which will take you to Set your wallpaper & style page. Here tap on Turn On option under screensaver to enable it.
Then click on arrow icon and you get the option to choose the album for screensaver.
Once applied, wallpapers available in that album will appear in the background one by one in some defined interval. You can select an album from your gallery as well.
On the same page, you can also set the duration between 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, and forever. You can select the duration based on your energy saving preference. This is because, screen saver takes more battery than the static wallpaper.
How to customize Accent Colors
If you want your Chromebook UI to match the color of your wallpaper, you can do that by allowing the accent option. Hereโs how it works.
- On your Chrombook desktop, right click and choose Set Wallpaper & style. You can also reach this page from Chromebook Settings > Personalization > Set your wallpaper and style.
- Here you will find Accent Colors option. Turn on Use color sets that match your wallpaper and the accent color or theme will be applied to the UI. You can also turn it off from same settings.
It works similar to the the Material You Color Palette in Android.
If you are trying to change the desktop from Chrome browser themes, it will not work. It will only change the theme in the browserโs UI.
