Samsung launched its Galaxy S25, the latest flagship series, early this year, bringing several improvements to the lineup. While there are several hardware improvements, the charging specifications remain the same in terms of numbers. Nevertheless, the Galaxy S25 series offers faster charging compared to its predecessor.
Here we will focus on the real-time charging speed of the Galaxy S25 Ultra which is the best in the latest flagship lineup. The beast boasts a massive 5000mAh battery and supports 45W fast wired charging. Additionally, it supports 15W wireless charging (with Qi2 support using a magnetic case), and 4.5W wireless charging support.
These specifications are same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra, except for the Qi2 support. However, the Galaxy S25 Ultra charges faster than Galaxy S24 Ultra. This is because of improvements in other areas, such as the processor and better optimization, which enable the Galaxy S25 Ultra to achieve faster charging.
Now, letโs put this to the test with real-world experience. Although the Galaxy S25 Ultra is not yet publicly available, many reviewers have already access to the device. Luckily, a few of them have conducted charging and battery life tests on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, giving us info on what to expect from its charging capabilities.
In a short video from Phandroid, the Galaxy S25 Ultra took 26 minutes to charge to 60%, which is better than the claim (30 minutes). While the Galaxy S24 Ultra took 31 minutes to charge to 60%.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra took 58 minutes to charge to 100%, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra took a whopping 77 minutes (1 hour and 17 minutes). In some other tests Galaxy S24 Ultra takes around 70 minutes, this means it could be different for you depending on the state of charging. These numbers would be different if you charge them while they switched off.
Charging Status | Galaxy S25 Ultra | Galaxy S24 Ultra |
---|---|---|
60% | 26 min | 31 min |
100% | 58 min | 77 min |
The difference is quite noticeable, this maybe due to the Galaxy S24 Ultra may be a bit old and have many apps installed. This causes more battery consumption in the background.
Note: The charging test was conducted using the Samsungโs 45W charger. And these numbers may vary by 5 minutes plus or minus.
The battery life of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is almost the same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, battery life results depends on many factors. A more realistic test would involve using the Galaxy S25 Ultra as the primary phone for an entire day. Test that continuously run videos, benchmark, and other tasks in a loop doesnโt accurately represent real-life usage.
There are several important points you can follow to protect your device’s battery such as enable the Battery protection to limit charging to 80%, disable battery draining apps, turning off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi scanning, and charge the device with original charger. The list goes on.
