HMD Global releases Android 10 (Go Edition) Update for Nokia 2.1

HMD Global has started rolling out the Android 10 (Go edition) update for Nokia 2.1. The device was announced back in 2018 with Android Oreo 8.0 (Go edition). Now it gets its second major update. The update comes with a bunch of new features, the newest version of a monthly security patch, overall improvements to the system, and more. As usual, the information about the new update has been shared by Juho Sarvikas (Chief Product Officer at Nokia) on Twitter. The company has started pushing the first batch of OTA from today to 10% devices, which will get extended to 50% by September 5th, and 100% by September 7th.

The new build is seeding in India, Thailand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Nepal. The list includes only regions that are accepted for wave 1, and soon Nokia will release the Nokia 2.1 Android 10 update for remaining regions in different waves. So in case if your country is not on the list then you may have to wait a bit longer than expected.

In terms of features, the Android 10 Update for Nokia 2.1 brings a flurry of new features, faster interface, improved security, digital wellbeing, new app experiences, and more. As this is an Android Go phone, it runs all the Go version of Google apps. And with the Android 10 update, you will also get the new version of Go Apps.

If we talk about specific changes then the changelog is not available yet, but consider the same features that Nokia rolled out for other Android Go phones. Dark Mode also included in the update. Many Nokia 2.1 users have been waiting for the Dark Mode and finally, Nokia brings it to their phones.

How to Update Nokia 2.1 to Android 10

In case if you haven’t received the update then you can manually check for the update on your phone. You need to remember the dates as all the Nokia 2.1 users from the first wave regions will get the update by 7th September. So in case if you didn’t receive it by 7th September then you can manually check for the update. Sometimes users don’t get the notification for OTA updates and in this, you can follow the below process.

  1. Connect your device to the working Internet and also charge your phone to at least 50% to update without interruption.
  2. Open Settings on your Phone.
  3. Then go to System > System Updates.
  4. After that check for the update and it will show the available update.
  5. Download & Install the Android 10 update on your Nokia 2.1.

Now reboot your smartphone. Once done, you can start using your device on Android 10.
