After releasing the newly redesigned Android Auto and turn-by-turn navigation for the watch without a phone, Google releases an update for Pixel Watch with some bug fixes and improvements. This is the first update for the Pixel Watch this year.
The new update for Google Pixel Watch comes with build number RWD9.220429.073. In Japan and Taiwan, the build number is different, RWD9.220429.073.J1. This is a monthly update for the watch and brings minor improvements along with the latest January 2023 security patch.
This is a phased rollout and hence it may take more than a week to reach all the users. In such a situation, some users may not get the update soon. As usual, users will be notified via OTA notification once the update is available.
The latest update for the Google Pixel watch is a small update and doesn’t bring exciting changes. However, the latest security patch makes it a significant update. Here’s what’s new in the update.
What’s New:
- The January 2023 software update includes bug fixes and the latest security patches for Pixel Watch users.
- Watch Faces: Fix to address 3rd party watch faces turning off after 15 mins with always on display (AOD) enabled.
The fall detection feature is still not officially available. However, some users who have recently factory reset their Pixel Watch were able to get the fall detection feature working. Fall Detection is slated for all to come in Winter 2023.
Since the update is rolling out to all Pixel watches, you can expect the update anytime soon. Sometimes the OTA notification doesn’t work, so check for the update manually on your watch. And if you see the ‘Your Watch is up to date’ page, tap on it repeatedly. Before downloading the update, make sure to connect it to WiFi.
