Google’s Pixel Feature Drop for March expands Magic Eraser support and More

It is the last month of the quarter and it is also the month of big updates for Pixel phones. Yes, the new March 2023 Pixel feature drop, Android 13 QPR2 is here for Pixel phones. As already revealed a few days back from its changelog leak, the new feature drop update brings a host of new features and changes that are available to all Pixel phones running Android 13.

The new Pixel Feature drop update for Pixel phones is included in the march 2023 security update. So along with the new features that are part of the Pixel feature drop, Pixel users are also getting the latest security updates and bug fixes.

Pixel feature drop is a major update that is released for Pixel phones every three months or quarter. The last major update was released back in December with several new features which you can check out here. Also, this is the second Android 13 based Feature drop update.

Faster Night Sight

Night Sight on Pixel feature is now faster. This means pixel users can capture Night Sight photos in less time. Faster night sight was already available on Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro since last year, but with the latest feature drop, it’s now available on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

Magic Eraser expands to more Pixel phones

Magic Eraser is one of the best features of Pixel phones. And now with the latest Pixel feature drop, this feature is available to all Pixel phones running Android 13. Earlier it was available on select Pixel phones.

Timer across all Pixel devices

When you set Timer on compatible Nest devices, the timer will show on Pixel phones via At a Glance. The push notification will also appear when the timer goes off and you can take action to stop it or add another minute to the timer.

Pixel Car Key

Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro can now be used as a key for your car. This feature uses ultra-wideband antennas on both phones. So whenever you come close to your car with your paired Pixel 6 Pro or Pixel 7 Pro, the eligible car will unlock automatically and when you leave your car it will automatically lock. Currently available on select 2022+ BMW models. The feature will be available in the coming weeks.

Dual eSIM on Pixel 7 Series

You can now use two eSIM at the same time on Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. It is currently available on select carriers.

Fall Detection on Pixel Watch

Google started pushing the Fall Detection feature to its Pixel Watch. When the watch detects a fall, it can call emergency services. Yes quite similar to Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch. Google says that Pixel Watch can accurately differentiate a hard fall and other vigorous physical activity.

More features for Pixel Watch

You can use Mono audio to limit the disorientation caused by split audio. The watch also gets new color correction and greyscale modes.

Other features:

  • Hold for Me feature is now available in Japan. It was already available in the US, Australia, and Canada
  • Easily pair Pixel Buds and Fast Pair enabled headphones with Chromebooks in a single tap. Fast pair is now available on select Chromebooks
  • New emoji combinations on Emoji kitchen
