But this is based on leaked renders and it is possible that renders makers may have missed out on details to be included in the render. There is no confirmation yet from OnLeaks, the original source of these renders.
When is Google Pixel 8 (Pro) Coming Out?
Many Pixel fans are eagerly anticipating the launch of the new flagship series, and they all share a common question: When will the Pixel 8 series be released and available? There is not much time left in the device launch which is due for launch in the next two months.
Google has consistently unveiled its flagship lineup in October every year. We anticipate that Google will maintain this pattern this year as well, indicating that the Google Pixel 8 series is likely to release in October 2023.
Update: Google confirms the event will take place on October 4. And the pre-orders will start the same day.
Will the Google Pixel 8 Series Design be the same as the Pixel 7 Series?
Unlike last year, when Google shared the design of the Pixel 7 series months before its release, Google has not yet provided any official information about the Pixel 8 design this year. However, numerous renders of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are readily available, including high-quality ones.
Update: Official look at Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro is out in a official teaser video.
From leaks it looks like Google will keep the design of Pixel 8 series similar to Pixel 7 but with better finish. Yes there is going to be a big camera island at the back. However, for the Pixel 8 Pro, reports indicate the addition of an Infrared sensor positioned just below the LED flash. Additionally, all three rear cameras will likely be situated within a single camera cutout, as opposed to the previous two-cutout arrangement.
According to rumors the new Pixel series will be different in dimensions than current Pixel phones. The base model is rumored to be smaller this year in comparison to last year’s Pixel 7. However, there were conflicting leaks regarding the Pro model, but has been resolved now. Both OnLeaks and a Display Supply Chain consultant Ross Young confirm that the Pro model will retain the same display size.
The major change in terms of design is Pixel 8 Pro will have a flat display which is a switch from curved display.
The latest leak at the time of writing is the Pixel 8 Promo video showcasing the Pixel 8 Pro in Blue color which looks stunning.
Colors (Updated on 22nd September)
Note: These are expected colors (via Mysmartprice). These are not the official color names and Google likely to give a better name but this gives about coming colors.
Pixel 8 Colors:
- Peony Rose
- Obsidian Black
Pixel 8 Pro Colors:
- Sky Blue
- Obsidian Black
On September 6, Google themselves leaked the Pixel 8 Pro in 360 degree view and three Pixel 8 Pro colors. Pixel 8 Pro color options is going to be Sky, Porcelain, and Licorice. The simulator also shows temperature sensor on the device.
Google Pixel 8 (Pro) Specs
Since the Pixel 8 is going to be a flagship phone series, it is expected to come with top notch specifications. Here is information already available.
As mentioned in the design section Pixel 8 is rumored to have a smaller display and the Pixel 8 Pro will have a flat display and not a curved display. Talking about exact numbers, the base model will feature a 6.16-inch display with the same resolution (2,400 x 1,080) as Pixel 7. But it will have a 120Hz refresh rate which is a jump from 90Hz and peak brightness of 1400 nits.
On the other hand Pixel 8 Pro will feature the same display size as Pixel 7 Pro which is 6.7-inch but with a different resolution of 2,992 × 1,344 pixels. The Pro variant might get an improved variable refresh rate which can go as low as 5Hz. And its display can reach 1600 nits of brightness. Confirmed by Android Authority.
Here’s more on Display specs leak.
SoC and Storage
This is where the Pixel lineup disappoints. Yes I am talking about Google’s in-house Tensor chip which may be optimized for Pixel phones in sheet but in real life it doesn’t match the Snapdragon processor. Sadly, the Pixel 8 series is rumored to come with the Tensor G3 chip.
Tensor G3 is said to be an improved chip but we can only find its real potential in testing. Recently we saw a battery test comparison where the Pixel 7 Pro with ~5000mAh battery loses to Galaxy Z Flip 5 which only has 3700mAh battery. And it’s all because of the Tensor chip.
The base model is expected to be coupled with 8GB RAM along with 128GB or 256GB of storage. And the Pixel 8 Pro rumored to be available in 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB or 512GB of storage.
One of the best performing categories on every Pixel phone. Pixel phones are known for their amazing camera performance even with the low camera spec can produce photos and videos that match high camera spec. All thanks to Google’s software processing.
Both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are expected to get camera improvements. Pixel 8 Pro Camera Spec Leak.
Pixel 8 to get a bigger sensor for its main camera which will have ISOCELL GN2 sensor replacing GN1 sensor. This improvement will result in better photos in low light and faster shutter speed to reduce blur. Its ultrawide camera is slightly bigger which will also improve the ultrawide camera performance.
The Pixel 8 Pro is expected to get more improvements. This include 64MP Sony IMX787 ultrawide camera replacing 12MP Sony IMX386 camera. So the ultrawide shots will be of higher quality. The main camera also gets some improvements with an upgraded GN2 sensor.

|11MP Front||11MP Front|
The front camera is expected to be the same as last year’s Pixel series.
When it comes to power, Google has been putting some bigger batteries on its Pixel phones. But Google needs to work on optimization. Both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are going to get some improvements in the power department.
As per available leak Pixel 8 to come with 4,485mAh battery with 24W wired charging speed and 20W wireless charging speed.
And the Pixel 8 Pro is rumored to come with 4,950mAh with 27W charging support and 23W wireless charging.

What are the new features on Pixel 8 Series?
Here we will talk about the new features coming with the Pixel 8 series. These are the exclusive features. Nothing to talk about features that are already available on Pixel 7 series, as they are already going to be in the new series.
As mentioned in the design section, there will be a Temperature sensor below the LED flash in the rear camera island.
A couple of months back there was a video leak which shows the working of the temperature sensor. And the process will be quite easy.
Audio Magic Eraser
A couple of days back there was a Pixel 8 promo leak which also reveals upcoming new features. And this feature might be part of both Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Google Tensor G3 might be needed for this feature, if not then this might also come to other Pixel devices.
It can reduce noises, people voice, music in the background from video. There is option to set the amount of noise we want to remove. The feature is quite similar to Magic eraser released with Pixel 6 series.
How much will the Pixel 8 cost?
Google has kept the pricing of its flagship devices same from last two years. Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 were launched with price tag of $599 whereas Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro were launched at $899. Currently, both devices will be available at huge discounts as these are now old devices.
But it looks like Google will be increasing the base pricing for both models this year. As per rumors Pixel 8 could come with starting price of $649 and the Pixel 8 Pro could start at $999 or even higher.
So these are the information available about Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. We will update any leaks, renders that appear in coming days.
