UTM SE, the first PC emulator for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, is now live on the App Store. It is the first PC emulator that lets users run old PC apps and games. The emulator supports older versions of Windows, macOS, and many other operating systems.

Earlier this year, Apple approved game emulators on the App Store, and since then many game emulators have been added to the Store. This change is thanks to EU regulations that led Apple to change its App Store guidelines to approve emulators.

However, the UTM SE, a PC emulator app was rejected when the developer submitted it for the review in June. Not only did Apple reject the app from the App Store globally, but they also barred it from third-party stores in the EU.

This rejection led to backlash from developers. The app checks all the App Store policies and should have been legally approved. Finally after a month, Apple has approved the UTM SE app, which is now available for free on the App Store.

UTM SE developers have confirmed the news via X (formerly known as Twitter). In the tweet, the app developers thanked AltStore for helping them and Apple to reconsidering their policy. They have also mentioned the app will soon be available in AltStore.

Since the app is now live, we have more details on what the first PC emulator offers to users. Here is the app store description that best describes the app’s functions:

UTM SE is a PC emulator that allows you to run classic software and old-school games.

  • Supports both VGA mode for graphics and terminal mode for text-only operating systems
  • Emulates x86, PPC, and RISC-V architectures
  • Run pre-built machines or create your own configuration from scratch
  • Built from QEMU, a powerful and widely used emulator

So with the new PC emulator you will be able to enjoy old school games and apps directly on your iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro. If you are a fan of old retro games, which game will be first on your list to play.
