The first developer beta of iOS 17.5 is now live

Apple begins testing the fifth installment of iOS 17, iOS 17.5 for iPhones. The iOS 17.5 Beta 1 is available for iPhone Xr and newer models. And the first beta of this new update brings one much awaited feature. Here is everything you need to know about iOS 17.5 Beta 1.

Many iPhone users are eagerly waiting to test iOS 18 because of the upcoming rumored AI features. The WWDC24 event is nearing where Apple will announce iOS 18, the next major update for iPhones. This means Apple will reserve new big features for iOS 18 and we will see only small changes in upcoming iOS 17 updates.

Today, along with the iOS 17.5 Beta 1 update, the tech giant also released iPadOS 17.5 Beta 1, watchOS 10.5 Beta 1, tvOS 17.5 Beta 1, macOS Sonoma 14.5 Beta 1, macOS Ventura 13.6.7 RC, macOS Monterey 12.7.5 RC, and visionOS 1.2 Beta 1.

The first developer beta of iOS 17.5 comes with build number 21F5048f. The update size depends on various situations like your previous update, model and others.

iOS 17.5 Beta 1 Update

The biggest change in the update is for EU users, as this update brings the support for sideloading via the Web. This means developers can now choose to publish their apps on their website for web installation of the app.

Other features include new reading goals in Apple Books to quickly find daily reading progress, brings back Podcasts widget color changes based on the current playing podcast, new modem update and a few more small changes.

If you have an eligible iPhone and want to test the new iOS beta build, you can opt for the beta in Settings > General > Software Update. Currently the update is available for developer but soon it will be available to public beta testers as well. Once the update is available you can download and install it on your phone.
