Asus’s ROG Phones are well known for their extreme gaming capabilities, yet one area where these phones lagged behind is their camera performance. Nevertheless, with the latest generation, ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro, things have changed.

The triple-lens camera array on the ROG Phone 8 features a 50MP Sony IMX890, a 32MP Samsung JD1SM15 3X telephoto camera, and a 13MP OmniVision OV13B ultra-wide-angle sensor.

The phone uses 4-in-1 pixel binning technology and captures 12.5MP shots by default, these photos look great, but when you dig deep you will find overprocessing and sharpening in some photos. It is reported by several users. The performance from the 3X telephoto camera and ultra-wide-angle lens is decent.

So, whether you want to enhance daylight photography or low light photography, you can give a try to the Pixel Camera port aka GCam port. Here you can download Google Camera for Asus ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro.

The latest version of the Google Camera app from the Pixel 8 is compatible with the ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro, thanks to the developers for porting the app. You can capture great low light photos using Night Sight and Astrophotography modes or even enhance daylight photography using GCam mod.

Note: Before Installing the new Gcam Mod ported app, make sure to delete the older version (if you’ve installed). This is not a stable version of Google Camera, so it may have some bugs.
