The Redmi Note 8 Pro is one of the first smartphones to come with a 64MP Quad Bayer camera setup under mid-range price segment. The Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro are recently launched smartphones by Xiaomi. And one of the major highlights of both smartphones is the camera. Talking about the details then the vanilla Note 8 comes with a 48MP quadruple-camera setup while the Pro variant dons a 64-megapixel primary sensor. The GCam is finally available for the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Yes, After doing some research we found a best compatible Google Camera app for both Redmi Note 8 & 8 Pro. The Pro variant is coupled with MediaTek Helio G90T SoC and there are not many GCam ports which works properly with this processor. But the developers are working on it. And here we found one mod port, which you can download from the below-listed links. The stock camera app is not much impressive as the selfies are overexposed, over sharpen images with faded colors. On the other hand, Google Camera capture some mind-blowing photos with good dynamic range.

The Camera is one of the main highlights of both the smartphones, one has a 48-megapixel primary sensor while the other one has a 64-megapixel shooter. And It uses native pixel-binning technology to capture images in 48MP/64MP modes. But thanks to Team Google who made GCam one of the best camera apps with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). And there are many developers who have port the Google Camera app for other smartphones as well.

Talking about the Google Camera app, then It comes with features like the anticipated Night Sight mode, Portrait Mode, HDR Enhanced, Lens Blur, PhotoSphere, Playground (AR Stickers), RAW support, Google Lens, and more. Download Google Camera for Redmi Note 8

The Camera2 API is enabled on the Redmi Note 8 right out-of-the-box, which means you can easily install the GCam app on your smartphone. We have tested three different mod ports on the Redmi Note 8, the GCam 6.2/6.3 and the latest GCam 7.0 which comes with astrophotography mode. The advantage of using GCam on Redmi Note 8 is decent low light shots, better dynamic range, and the Night Sight Mode. Here you can find the download links.

Make sure to apply the below-listed settings which lets the GCam works properly on the Redmi Note 8.

Recommended Settings for Redmi Note 8:

Make sure to follow the below-listed steps, after installing the Google Camera mod port. And we’ll update this article if we found a newer version of the ported app.

For GoogleCameraPe_6.2.030.244457635-fix.apk

  • Open the Google Camera app > Settings > Under Mod Settings
    • turn off HDR+ enhanced Auto White balance to Pixel 2 or Pixel 3
  • Open GCam app again > Settings > Advanced
    • Base > Config > Pixel2018 ZslR HDR+
    • Base > set Front Camera > Nexus 6P
    • Libs > Xlib 2.3
  • You can also change the saturation settings according to your need.

For MGC_6.1.021_Arnova_xcam_mi9_v8.apk

  1. Download Config Settings, which save the recommended settings.
  2. Once downloaded, you can extract it using ES file explorer on the root storage.
  3. Create a new folder named GCam in the root folder and then open GCam folder and make a Configs folder.
  4. Then, copy the config (RN8SettingsYTECHB.xml) file in /Internal Storage/GCam/Configs/ (folder).
  5. Open Google Camera and double tap on the black blank area placed next to the shutter button.
  6. Tap on the settings shown (with RN8SettingsYTECHB.xml), available in the popup & press the restore button.
  7. Go back to the app drawer and then open the app again.

Download Google Camera for Redmi Note 8 Pro

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the first smartphone to come with the Helio G90T chipset which is known for the best gaming performance under this price segment. And it is the primary reason that not every GCam port is compatible with the Note 8 Pro. But after doing some research we found one GCam for Redmi Note 8 Pro, which is working fine in our testing. The only thing which is not working this port is the Night Sight mode. While all other Pixel 3 Camera app features are working fine. Here’s the download link of the apk.

After downloading configure the app by applying below-listed settings, which are different from the above-listed settings.

Recommended Settings for Redmi Note 8 Pro

For MGC_6.1.021_Rn8ProEdition_1.0_Wyroczen_STABLE.apk

  1. Download Config Settings, which save the recommended settings.
  2. Once downloaded, you can extract it using ES file explorer on the root storage.
  3. Create a new folder named GCam in the root folder and then open GCam folder and make a Configs folder.
  4. Then, copy the config (RN8ProSettingsYTECHB.xml) file in /Internal Storage/GCam/Configs/ (folder).
  5. Open Google Camera and double tap on the black blank area placed next to the shutter button.
  6. Tap on the settings shown (with RN8ProSettingsYTECHB.xml), available in the popup & press the restore button.

For MGC_6.1.021_xcam6_RN8P_Wyroczen_TEST3.apk

  • Open Google Camera app > Settings > Advanced
    • Fix > RAW format > RAW_sensor
    • Set final JPG quality to 100%

For GCam 7.2 (GoogleCamera_7.2.011_RN8Pro_TEST2.apk)

  • Open the app > swipe down > Settings > Advanced
    • Enable HDR+ Control
    • Enable RAW_JPEG Control
  • Go to Settings > Change Saturation levels
    • Back Camera Highlight > 1.6
    • Back Camera Shadow > 1.8
    • Front Camera Highlight > 1.7
    • Front Camera Shadow > 1.6
  • Set Exposure compensation to +0,2

Before start capturing make sure to enable HDR+ enhanced. You can also play with the saturation settings according to your needs.

How to Install GCam on Redmi Note 8 (Pro)

  1. At first download the app from above-listed links.
  2. After downloaded, head over to the settings then enable the Unkown Sources.
  3. Now Install the Google Camera.Google Camera APK
  4. Once done, open the app and allow the app permissions if any needed.
  5. That’s it.

Note: Before Installing the new Gcam Mod ported app, make sure to delete the older version (if you’ve installed). This is not a stable version of Google Camera, so it may have some bugs.
