The Galaxy S25 series has finally landed. The latest lineup of Samsung smartphones includes the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. All three devices from the Galaxy S25 lineup come in shiny new colors and pack the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset under the hood. They all boot Android 15-based One UI 7 skin out of the box.
No wonder, they are powerful and come with some cool AI features and software improvements. While the Galaxy S25 phones are great to use as a daily driver, those who work with sketches or creative tasks might have a few questions related to the S Pen.
The S Pen is hands-down an impressive tool with lots of use cases that are not just limited to creative purposes. It also includes, but isnโt limited to, scribing, smart writing, air commanding different functions, and remote controlling your smartphone camera. Sadly, you wonโt be able to do a few things mentioned here with the latest S Penโฆ more on this below.
Does the Galaxy S25 series come with an S Pen?
If you are wondering whether all the Galaxy S25 series phones come with an S Pen, the answer is NO; Samsung only ships the S Pen with the beefier Galaxy S25 Ultra.
In other words, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus donโt come with an S Pen or any sort of stylus. They also lack support for an S Pen. So, if you already have an S Pen and are planning to pre-order one of the two Galaxy S25 models, itโll be of no use.

Can you use the new S Pen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra as a camera shutter?
Although the Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with an S Pen, unfortunately, Samsung has made it less useful by downgrading it. The S Pen shipped with the Ultra model this year lacks Bluetooth. So, you may ask โ how does this affect its functionality?
Well, you can no longer use Air Actions. In simple words, you canโt use gestures or the penโs button to launch apps, control music, scroll through your gallery, or even trigger the camera shutter to take photos and videos. Honestly, thatโs a big no-no for those who have been using the S Pen for these features.
Note: Although, Air Actions can't be used via this year's S Pen, Samsung has now confirmed that you can still use a Bluetooth S Pen for the feature on your Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Samsung says that most people weren’t using the S Pen for the aforementioned purposes. Therefore, it was eventually scrapped altogether. The S Pen from this year indeed lacks features, but it indirectly contributed to the Galaxy S25 Ultraโs weight being 15 grams less than its predecessor.

This year’s S Pen is even more lightweight for obvious reasons
Since Samsung decided to ditch Bluetooth from this yearโs S Pen, you donโt have to worry about charging it anymore, as thereโs no battery inside. Moreover, the removal of Bluetooth components has also made this yearโs S Pen even more lightweight.
