Apple has released its latest iPhone 16 lineup, which includes four models, following in the footsteps of its predecessor. One of the standout addition is the new camera control button. The iPhone 16 has a new fancy button called camera control on the right side, just below the side key.
If the new button is causing issues, like accidentally opening the camera controls, or if you are not using it at all, you might be wondering if itโs possible to disable it. And here in this guide, Iโll show you how to do just that.
First, you need to know that it is possible to turn off or disable the new button. And you can do multiple tasks with the new camera control button, which we will be sharing in other guides.
Turn off Camera Control on iPhone 16
Turning off the camera control button on iPhone 16 is quite easy. We can do it from the accessibility settings. Here is the step-by-step guide to turn off or disable camera control button on iPhone 16.
- Open Settings on your iPhone 16.
- Navigate to the Accessibility settings.
- Under Accessibility, look for Camera Control and open it.
- Here you can turn off the toggle to disable camera control.
If youโre not familiar with the iPhone 16’s camera control button, and want to know more about the new button before deciding whether to enable it again, here are important things to know. After seeing the way Apple highlighted this feature at the launch event, anyone would want to try it out.
iPhone 16 Camera Control Features
The camera control button does just as its name suggests, which means it controls the camera and it can also perform jobs related to the camera such as finding out about objects and more. Some of these Apple Intelligence features will come out later.
The camera control button is a touch-sensitive and tactile switch, which allows users to perform multiple functions with a single button. You can perform multiple actions, such as single press, double press, and slide.
The camera control button is intended to make accessing the camera quick and have easy controls at your fingertips. It has a nice fluid animation like dynamic island where you can see the control or action you can select from.
Although the new camera control button is good, it is not that useful in portrait mode. It is more useful in landscape. And since we take photos in portrait most of the time and not landscape, the new button may not be as useful as expected.
You can take some time to understand if the button is useful enough for you or not. And based on that you can make the decision to turn it back on or keep it off.
If it also worked as Touch ID, it would be incredible. I know many users, including myself, still miss the Touch ID and one of the main reason is that Touch ID is better than the Face ID, as it works in a wider range of conditions.
What do you think, is the camera control useful? Or is it a gimmick? What other features could have been more useful? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
