[U2: Stable build is out] Android 12 based ColorOS 12 Beta Program goes live for Oppo Reno 6 Pro

ColorOS 12 beta program went live for the Oppo Find X2 series phones a few days ago. Now Oppo expands its Android 12-based ColorOS 12 beta program to more phones, this time, it joins Reno 6 Pro (5G). The company detailed its newest skin – ColorOS 12 alongside the rollout timeline and other details. Here’s everything you need to know about Oppo Reno 6 Pro ColorOS 12 Beta update program.

While sharing this information with its official Twitter handle (@ColorOSGlobal), Oppo wrote that the beta program will be open from November 19 to November 26. For the time being, 5,000 Reno6 Pro 5G and Reno6 Pro 5G Diwali Edition users can join the ColorOS 12 beta program. It will be expanded in the coming days for more users. In terms of availability, then beta program is limited to India for now, will join more regions in the coming days.

As always, the company mentions the required software version to see the trial program in the settings app. This time, the required version is the A.16. Explore more about ColorOS 12 here.

If you’re using the Reno6 Pro 5G or Reno6 Pro 5G Diwali Edition and want to taste the new features of Android 12-based ColorOS 12, then you can take a part in the beta program. However, beta builds are not good for daily use, I suggest you to try it on your secondary / separate phone.

  1. At first, Open the Settings app on your Oppo Find X2 series phone.
  2. Now head over to the Software update and click on the gear icon listed on the top-right corner.
  3. Now you’ll see a trial program option, tap on it.
  4. Enter the required details in the forum shared by the company.
  5. That’s it.

Now your application has submitted successfully, if there’s an empty slot (5,000 seats) in the beta program, then you’ll receive the update within the 3 days.

Before updating, make sure to take a backup of important data. Also, charge your device to at least 50%.

Talking about the ColorOS 12, then it comes with features such as the new inclusive design, 3D textured icons, adopts Android 12-based widgets, new features for AOD, new privacy controls, and many other features. Oppo also packed its skin with a big list of aesthetic wallpapers, you can download these walls right here. Apart from these changes, we can expect updated security patch levels.


November 29th – Reno 6 5G joins the club

Oppo also announced the ColorOS 12 beta testing program for the vanilla Reno 6 5G. The beta program is live in India, here’s the tweet shared by the company via ColorOS Global Twitter handle.


December 27th – Reno 6 Pro 5G gets stable ColorOS 12

Oppo has started rolling out stable ColorOS 12 to the Reno 6 Pro 5G in India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. The update is available for both Reno 6 Pro 5G and Reno 6 Pro 5G Diwali Edition. If you want to upgrade to the newer version, make sure your phone is running on the A.16 / A.18 software version.

If your phone is already up to date, then you can move to the Settings > Software Updates > tap on the gear icon on the top right corner > tap trial version or Official version and update your phone to the new software.
