It’s been many months since I switched to macOS, and I’ve learned many tricks get my work done as quickly as possible, all thanks to useful apps and widgets available. Recently, I found a battery status application that allows me to quickly access my Mac’s battery information and controls with just a single click.
Usually, you have to go to Settings, navigate to Battery, and find all the stats that you need one by one, which can take minutes. There’s an option to add battery shortcut to the Menu bar, but it only shows the battery percentage and shortcut to visit Battery settings.
But what if I tell you that you can see and control everything about battery in a single click? There’s an app called BatFi that allows you to add a battery shortcut to the Menu bar with many functions. It’s a popular app, so some of you may already be familiar with it. However, for those who aren’t, it’s a useful app that you’ll find yourself using frequently once you give it a try.

With BatFi app on macOS, you can conveniently see the important details without taking up much space in the Menu Bar. These are the information I have selected to see in the Menu bar.
- Battery percentage
- Time left and elapsed time
- Charging status
- Battery charge cycle count
- Your Mac’s battery health
- Battery usage graph
- Charge to 100% (If using battery charging limit)
- Settings and More (You can control what you want to see)
For all this information, I had to visit many pages in Settings. So for me BatFi saves a significant amount of time.
Luckily, the app is still free if you use an older version. But if you want new features and want to keep your app updated, you can go for the paid version as well.
The app works well. I encountered an issue only the first time I plugged in the charger after installing the app. the drop-down was stuck and I had to restart my MacBook. However, I haven’t faced any problems since then.
The app allows you to set the battery charging limit. For example, if you want to charge your Mac only up to 80% to protect your battery from overcharging, you can also choose the option to automatically discharge in case of overcharging.
You can manage what you want to see about battery in the Menu bar from BatFi. Another useful function of the app is that it show apps that consume a significant amount of battery. While there are many features, these are the ones I use the most.
There might be some similar apps that I’m unaware of. However, for now, I find BatFi to be quite useful because it has all the features I want related to battery status.
What apps do you use to check your battery status? If you know of any better applications, please let us know in the comments, and we’ll check them out.
