Asus rolls out stable Android 13 update for ZenFone 9

Asus has started pushing the stable Android 13 update to the ZenFone 9. The update comes after four months of beta testing. Last month, the Taiwanese smartphone OEM shared the Android 13 rollout timeline for the eligible phones and as per the details, the ZenFone 9 is slated to receive the update in December. Asus has fulfilled its promise with today’s rollout. Let’s explore the details of the Asus ZenFone 9 Android 13 update.

The new software goes live on the ZenFone 9 with the 33.0804.2060.65 software version. At the moment, the update is available to a small number If of users and a wider rollout should follow very soon. The update will also bump up the monthly security patch version to December 2022 and comes with a slew of new features. Before moving to the features, make sure you have enough data and space to download the new software.

Asus ZenFone 9 Android 13 update brings the new notification permission feature, more color options for the themed icons, a cross-device copy-paste feature, an updated media player, added the QR code scanner option, removed the Call duration setting, and more. Here’s the complete list of changes coming with the Android 13 update.

  • Please back up your data before upgrading to Android 13. If you want to downgrade your deviceโ€™s software version to Android 12 by official software package, it will erase all data from your deviceโ€™s internal storage
  • Upgraded system to Android 13
  • Revamped Mobile Manager, Contacts, Phone, Emergency Dialer, File Manager, Calculator, Clock, Gallery, Weather, Sound recorder, Settings, Data Transfer, Local backup, and other Asus apps
  • Adjusted Quick Settings panel, notification tray, and volume panel to Android 13 design
  • Added the notification permission feature. You can adjust the permission of each apps in the Apps & notifications Settings
  • System clipboard added “Auto delete” and editor features
  • Added the QR code scanner option for the lock screen shortcut feature, and the โ€œControl from locked deviceโ€feature in the Security & lock screen setting
  • If Bedtime option is setup in Digital Wellbeing, system color scheme can now be set to automatically switch with bedtime option
  • Adjusted the Vibration & haptic strength setting, Display and font size setting, and the width/length of navigation white bar when choosing gesture navigation
  • Changed to the Blocked numbers setting in Phone to stock behavior. You will not receive calls or texts from blocked numbers
  • Removed the Call duration setting
  • Added the Themed icons option in the Wallpaper & style setting Support more color combinations
  • Added โ€œlink quick shareโ€ feature in ASUS Launcher
  • Added Asus customization preferences setting. Allows applying the collection of commonly used customization settings with one click
  • Removed the ‘Calm’ and ‘Elegant’ options in the Power button menu style setting. Add the display item management option to allow the user to control the number of buttons in the menu
  • Adjusted the design of the dialpad and contacts details page in the Phone app to display information more clearly
  • Some 3rd party apps are not compatible with Android 13 yet

Asus has also mentioned the known issues available on this build, here are the list of known issues.

  • WW-33.0804.2060.65 does not support JP SKU , also not support NFC/FELICA Technology
  • Some 3rd party apps are not compatible with Android 13 yet

Asus ZenFone 9 owners can check the new updates in the System updates settings, if there is any new update available you can install it on your phone, else, wait for a few days.

Before updating your phone, make sure to take a backup and also charge your phone to at least 50%.
