Astrophoto Mode makes its way to Galaxy S21 Series and Galaxy Z Fold 4

The new Expert RAW update brings Astrophoto mode to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, Galaxy S21 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 4. Astrophotography mode was first made available on the Galaxy S22 series last year (it’s already available on the Galaxy S23 series). And it’s finally available on older Galaxy phones.

The Astrophotography mode on the Expert RAW app lets users capture long exposure shots of the stars and sky. It also includes a Sky Guide that you can enable and disable. When Sky Guide is enabled, it shows the location of constellations so that users can point the camera to the right location. But the quality of the shot depends on the environment like how clear the sky is and the amount of pollution.

Astrophotography mode on the Galaxy S21 series and Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with the Expert RAW app version 2.0.09.1. You can find Expert Raw in the Galaxy Store. It looks like there is one more condition for Galaxy S21 series users, the device must be updated to the April 2023 security update first.

Once you have the latest version of One UI and Expert RAW app, open the app on your phone. On the top bar of the app, there will be the Astrophotography Mode icon at the last. Click on the icon and it will show Astrophoto controls. There are options to adjust duration, sky guide, focus, and more.

Expert RAW is an app for limited Samsung Galaxy phones and it comes with some exclusive camera related features. It’s a different app than the stock camera. There are some other Galaxy phones eligible for Astrophotography Mode and these phones will also get the feature soon.

If you have Galaxy S21 series or Galaxy Z Fold 4, make sure to update your device to the latest One UI build and then update or install the latest version of Expert RAW.
