Today, Apple launched new iPad Air, new iPad Pro, new Apple Pencil Pro, and new Magic Keyboard at Let Loose event. After the event, tech giant Apple also released the Release Candidate build of iOS 17.5 to Developers. It will be available to Public Beta testers soon. The RC is also considered a stable build for developers and public beta testers. Yes, there are times when Apple releases more than one RC build, but that happens in case of major bugs. Here’s everything new in iOS 17.5 Release Candidate.
The release candidate build is out which means we can expect the iOS 17.5 release to the Public next week if there are no major bugs in this RC. So if you are not comfortable with installing beta build, mark your calendar for next week’s update.
Today along with the iOS 17.5 RC, Apple also released iPadOS 17.5 RC, watchOS 10.5 RC, tvOS 17.5 RC, and visionOS 1.2 Beta 5. Both iOS 17.5 RC and iPadOS 17.5 RC come with build number 21F79. This build number will be the same for the next week’s public build if there are no major changes.
Now, let’s talk about the changes and new features iOS 17.5 brings to iPhones. Today Feed and News+ in Apple News+ works without internet, and a new word game in Apple News+. You can check the complete changelog below.
Apple News
- Offline mode in Apple News+ gives you access to the Today feed and News+ tab, even when you don’t have an internet connection
- Quartiles is a new and original daily word game that is now available in Apple News+
- Scoreboard in News+ Puzzles gives you access to new player data for Crossword, Mini Crossword and Quartiles, including stats and streaks
Tracking Notifications
- Cross-Platform Tracking Detection delivers notifications to users if a compatible Bluetooth tracker they do not own is moving with them, regardless of what operating system the device is paired with
If you have an eligible iPhone and opted for developer beta in the system, then you must have already received the update. But if you haven’t and want this update, you can still opt for developer beta in Software Update page and as soon as you do, the update will appear. However I advise you to wait for Public build which is just a week away. To check for the update or opt for beta, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
