Apple is ending May 2023 with new iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6 beta updates. Yes, the second beta of iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6 are out for developers. Soon the beta build will be released to public beta testers. The first beta was released two weeks ago and there was no beta update for iOS 16.6 or iPadOS 16.6 last week.
As you may already know that Apple is all set to host the WWDC 2023 event on June 5 where the tech giant will announce iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 along with other products. Soon iOS 17 will be available to developers through test builds. And hence the iOS 16.6 beta build could be the last build for them in the iOS 16 series.
Along with iOS 16.6 Beta 2 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 2, Apple also released macOS Ventura 13.5 Beta 2, tvOS 16.6 Beta 2, watchOS 9.6 Beta 2, macOS Monterey 12.6.7 RC 2, and macOS Big Sur 11.7.8 RC 2. Both iOS 16.6 Beta 2 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 2 come with build number 20G5037d.
As we are heading towards the end of iOS 16, we cannot expect major changes. This is because Apple will keep most of the big changes for iOS 17 available in beta builds soon.
Talking about changes and improvements in iOS 16.6 Beta 2, we haven’t come across any noticeable changes since the update was just released. But once we have more information we will add them below.
- Some bug fixes
- No major changes were found in the update
As mentioned earlier the iOS 16.6 Beta 2 is currently available for developers. But soon it will be available to everyone, maybe within 24 hours. If you are a developer all you need to do is log in with your Apple ID with registered developers access and you would be able to pick the new developer beta. To check for updates manually go to Settings > General > Software Update.
