Apple seeds first beta of watchOS 10.6 to developers

While last week was all about the watchOS 11, iOS 18, Apple Intelligence, and more, this week Apple has released a new beta version for watchOS 10. The latest release is watchOS 10.6 beta.

Apple plants the first beta of watchOS 10.6 to the eligible watches with the 21U5551b build number. The latest beta requires 531MB of data for installation.

If your Apple Watch is running on watchOS 10 or newer, you can update to the newest beta. Currently, the update is available to developers only, with a public beta expected to be released in a matter of time.

In terms of changes, Apple didn’t mention anything in the release notes, however, we can expect further fixes and enhancements.

Apple already unveiled the watchOS 11 and it packed several useful features including the all-new Vitals app, Training Load, Live Activites for Smart Stack, Automatic Sleep Detection, and more. If you want to try out these features, you can install the developer beta on your watch.

If your iPhone or iPad is running on the latest version of iOS 17.6 Beta, then you can easily sideload the watchOS 10.6 beta on your Watch.

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap General > Software Update.
  3. Select Beta Updates and enable watchOS 10 Developer Beta or Public Beta option.
  4. Go back and download the first beta of watchOS 10.6.
  5. That’s it.

As mentioned earlier, the watchOS 10.6 Beta 1 is currently available for registered developers, but soon it will go live for public beta testers. Before installing the update, make sure that your Apple Watch is charged at least 50% and connected to a WiFi network.

To check for the update go to General > Software Update > Download and Install, then install the new software. Now the watchOS 10.6 beta will download and transfer to your Apple Watch. And after the completion of the installation process, your watch will restart. Once all done, you can start using your Apple Watch.
