Apple usually releases incremental bug fix updates shortly after updates like iOS 18.2. However, after skipping the expected December release, they have finally released it. This is the first update of 2025 to the public.
Apple hasn’t released many updates today, only iOS 18.2.1 and iPadOS 18.2.1. Both updates come with the same build number 22C161. The update size will vary depending on your model and can range between 250MB to 650MB.
As mentioned in the starting, this is a small bug fix update, so don’t expect many changes and new features. You can expect performance improvements. The update only contains the following information.
“This update provides important bug fixes and is recommended for all users.”
The update is available on eligible models. But if you have installed iOS 18.3 beta, you will not get this update as you are already on a higher version.
Apple is currently testing iOS 18.3, which will be the next big update to the Public and is expected to be available by the end of this month.
Before installing any update, make sure to back up all your important data. And charge your device to at least 50%.
