After rolling out the big iOS 18 update to the public yesterday, Apple has now rolled out the fourth beta of iOS 18.1. With this release, the iOS 18.1 beta is now available to all iPhones eligible for iOS 18. Previously, up until the third beta, it was only available for the iPhone 15 Pro models.
iOS 18.1 is also going to be a big update, especially because of the Apple Intelligence features. However, AI features will only be available on select iPhone models and in select regions. So not everyone will get to enjoy Apple Intelligence features. It may become available in more regions in the coming months.
Along with the iOS 18.1 Beta 4, Apple has also released iPadOS 18.1 Beta 4, watchOS 11.1 Beta 1, tvOS 18.1 Beta 1, macOS Sequoia 15.4 Beta 4, and visionOS 2.1 Beta 1.
As usual, both iOS and iPadOS updates come with the same build number which is 22B5045g for the fourth beta. The update size will depend on the device you have and your current update. On my iPhone 13, it weighs 6.7GB.
Now that the iOS 18.1 beta is available for all the models, it will be interesting to explore the non-AI features. However, since the update was just released, it may take some time to find them all. Once Iโve found all the new features, Iโll add them below.
- Call Recording is now available on older devices with fourth beta (It’s not part of Apple Intelligence)
- iPhone 15 Pro wallpapers are back
- Control Center let you add third party apps (if the app is supported)
- The second page or connectivity page of the control center now feature four big icons in square format along with four options in long bar format
- Camera app now let users pause video recording on older models
- Relevant suggestions now appear while typing to Siri
- Search in Photos is now much faster and works more accurately
The iOS 18.1 Beta 4 update is currently available to developers, but it will soon be available to public testers as well. If youโve already installed a previous iOS 18.1 beta, the update will appear directly on the software update page in Settings.
However, users on iOS 18 need to enable beta updates in the Software Update settings. Do this only if you want to receive beta updates.
Donโt forget to back up your data before installing the beta update.
