Apple releases watchOS 9.0.1 update for Apple Watch Ultra

Apple releases the first software upgrade for its premium Apple Watch Ultra, a day one update for those receiving the watch tomorrow. The incremental upgrade on Apple Watch Ultra is labeled with watchOS 9.0.1 version number. Although, it is a minor update to the watchOS 9 released last week. Apple is seeding the new software to the Apple Watch Ultra with the 20R8380 version number. As it is a minor incremental upgrade, its size is relatively smaller than the usual updates. Yes, this update is limited to the Apple Watch Ultra, it is rolling with improvements and bug fixes.

According to the watchOS 9.0.1 release notes, the update addresses the audio distortion issue during phone calls using speakers, the same is mentioned on the Apple’s support page, here’s the complete changelog.

Obviously, it is an incremental upgrade over the recently released watchOS 9. You can access the new features of watchOS 9 – the enhanced workout app with three new running form metrics, including Stride Length, Ground Contact Time, and Vertical Oscillation. There are four new customizable watch faces, including, the Astronomy face, Lunar face, Playtime with animated numbers, joined by the Metropolitan watch face with lovely color combinations.

The owners of the Apple Watch Ultra can install the new software from the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Make sure your iPhone is running on the newest version of iOS 16 (the current version is iOS 16.0.2). You can move to the software updates in the Apple Watch app and then install the new software.

Once you tap the install button, it will download and install the newest update on your Apple Watch Ultra. Once the installation process is completed, the watch will automatically reboot to the latest watchOS 9.0.1 update.
