Apple releases watchOS 8.7 update to the public

After months of testing, Apple finally kicks off the watchOS 8.7 update to the public. Yes, you can freely install it on your Apple Watch. The new incremental update is not more than a system enhancement upgrade, yes, don’t expect new features from the watchOS 8.7. Read along to know more about the watchOS 8.7 stable update.

Apart from the Apple Watch, the other Apple products also picked up the new software, iPhone and iPad receive iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6. Whereas the Apple TV picks up tvOS 15.6 upgrade and Mac users can upgrade their systems to macOS 12.5. Sticking with the watchOS 8.7, then Apple seeds the new update to the Apple Watch with a 19U66 build number and weighs around 185MB in size. Yes, it is a small upgrade compared to the previous releases and you can quickly install it on your watch.

Install watchOS 8.7 update on Apple Watch

As I said earlier, make sure to update your iPhone to iOS 15.6, once your iPhone is running on the latest software, you can update your Apple Watch to the watchOS 8.7. Here are the steps you can follow to update your Apple Watch to the new version.

  1. At first, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on My Watch.
  3. Then click on General > Software Update > Download and Install.
  4. Enter the password for confirmation.
  5. Tap on Agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. Once done, tap on install.
  7. Thatโ€™s it.
