The second iOS update this week is the fourth beta of iOS 18.2. Just yesterday, Apple released the small incremental iOS 18.1.1 update to the public. However, iOS 18.2 Beta 4 is for developers and beta testers.
According to recent rumors, iOS 18.2 will be released to the public in early December. With the rollout of the fourth beta, we are nearing the public release. The fourth could be the last beta update for the upcoming second big iOS 18 update.
Along with the iOS 18.2 Beta 4, Apple also released some other builds including iPadOS 18.2 Beta 4, watchOS 11.2 Beta 3, macOS Sequoia 15.2 Beta 4, macOS Sonoma 14.7.2 RC3, and macOS Ventura 13.7.2 RC3.
The latest iOS 18.2 Beta 4 comes with build number 22C5142a, which indicates that the next update will be the Release Candidate, which is also same as Public build.
Since the iOS 18.2 is now moving towards a public release, don’t expect major changes. However, there are some changes in the fourth beta which you can find below.
- New App Installation section under Apps in Settings
- Control to change default Search Engine under Search settings
- Now users can choose default apps from specific apps in Settings, such as Settings > Apps > Messages (to set default messaging app)
- Some other small changes
