Apple releases iOS 17.6 Beta 3 to Developers

After releasing the third beta of iOS 18 to developers earlier this week, Apple has now released the iOS 17.6 Beta 3 update. Since the WWDC event, Apple has been releasing beta updates for iOS 18 and iOS 17 in alternate weeks, but that is not the case this week.

Before we discuss whatโ€™s new in the latest update, let’s see the other updates released today. Along with the third beta of iOS 18, Apple also released iPadOS 17.6 Beta 3, watchOS 10.6 Beta 3, tvOS 17.6 Beta 3, visionOS 1.3 Beta 3, macOS Sonoma 14.6 Beta 3, macOS Ventura 13.6.8 RC 3, and macOS Monterey 12.7.6 RC 3.

Both iOS 17.6 Beta 3 and iPadOS 17.6 Beta 3 come with build number 21G5066d, which is a downgrade meaning the RC build could be delayed. The last build number ended with ‘c’ which shows how close we are to the RC which comes after the beta that has build number ending with ‘a.’

iOS 17.6 Beta 3 Update

Talking about new features and changes, the third beta of iOS 17.6 is a small update, so donโ€™t expect much from it. The third beta is focused on improvements and stability. You will see some text changes in stock apps, but nothing major.

iOS 17.6 is said to be the last big update in the iOS 17 lineup which will be replaced by iOS 18. Since all eyes are on the iOS 18 beta, not many users are interested in continuing the iOS 17 beta.

The iOS 17.6 Beta 3 is available to users who have selected the iOS 17 beta program in settings. Current the update is available to Developers but in few hours it will be available to public beta testers as well.

To check for the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Beta testing is only recommended if you know all the risks of beta updates such as it could contain major bugs.
