Apple today dropped fifth betas of iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6. And with the sixth beta installment release, we are now quite close to the iOS 16.6 public release. The last beta was released two weeks back with some bug fixes and improvements. Letโ€™s find out whatโ€™s new in the latest iOS 16.6 Beta 5 update.

For those who didnโ€™t opt for any beta update on their iPhones, there is a new iOS 16.5.1 (a) security response update. And in the next one or two weeks, iOS 16.6 will be available to install as well.

Along with the iOS 16.6 Beta 5 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 5, Apple also released macOS Ventura 13.5 Beta 5, watchOS 9.6 Beta 5, tvOS 16.6 Beta 5, macOS Big Sur 11.7.9 RC 5, and, macOS Monterey 12.6.8 RC 5. Both iOS 16.6 Beta 5 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 5 come with build number 20G5070a. The build number ends with the letter ‘a’ which means we could see the Release Candidate build next week.

iOS 16.6 Beta 5 Update

As you may have already guessed, the latest update primarily focuses on general improvements and security enhancements, similar to the previous beta update. If there are any noteworthy changes or improvements, I will include them below.

The iOS 16.6 Beta 5 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 5 are currently available to developers. But soon it will be available to Public beta testers as well. If you are on an iOS 16.6 beta, you will receive the fifth beta on your iPhone. The same goes for the iPad. To check for the update manually, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
