Apple releases iOS 16.4.1 (a) Security Response Update

A small but important update is now available for iPhone and iPad users. And it comes in a new update style. For iPhone, it is iOS 16.4.1 (a) Security Response Update and for iPad, it is iPadOS 16.4.1 (a) Security Response Update. These are the first security response update for iPhones & iPad which only includes security updates and minor changes. Rapid Response Update is very small and easy to install.

When it was first released today for iPhone users, it was giving an error while trying to install. It gave an error prompt saying ‘iOS Security Response 16.4.1 (a) failed verification because you are no longer connected to the Internet.’ But now this issue has been fixed and users can install security response update.

The Security Response update is also out for iPad 16.4.1 users and macOS 13.3.1 users. Talking about build number, the iOS 16.4.1 (a) security response comes with build 20E772520a. Yes, the build number for security response will be listed along with the main iOS 16.4.1 update. This means you will find two build numbers when you check in iOS versions.

As you can guess from the update name, this is a security update that includes important security updates. Yes for security updates, Apple will only release security response updates and not the full iOS build. It is going to be effective for users as well since these updates are easy to install and uninstall. Yes you can remove the security response update if you want to by going to Settings > General > About > Remove Security Response.

The iOS 16.4.1 (a) Security Response Update is available to users who are currently on the iOS 16.4.1 update. But in case you are on the iOS 16.5 beta, you will not receive the update. You can check for the update manually by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
