Apple has been testing the iOS 16.2 beta since the release of iOS 16.1 last month. And the new update is expected to arrive next month. To continue the testing, Apple has released the third beta of iOS 16.2 with a couple of changes and multiple bug fixes. Want to update to the iOS 16.2 Beta 3, here is everything you need to know.
Earlier today, Apple also pushed the Emergency SOS feature to the public. It showed up in the Settings on its own on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 16.1 in Canada and USA. Apple is bringing the remaining iOS 16 features either through regular updates or over the air. iOS 16 had many issues, but those have been fixed in the last few updates.
Along with iOS 16.2 Beta 3, Apple also released iPadOS 16.2 Beta 3, tvOS 16.2 Beta 3, watchOS 9.2 Beta 3, macOS Ventura 13.1 Beta 3, macOS Monterey 12.6.2 RC2, and macOS Big Sur 11.7.2 RC2. The third iOS 16.2 beta comes with 20C5049e. As per the build number it might be released a week before the start of the holiday season.
Talking about changes, the latest beta update adds an option to show and remove wallpapers and notifications from the Always on Display screen. Currently, we have observed this change only, but once we find more changes we will add them below. Also, there are some bug fixes and security improvements.
Currently, the iOS 16.2 Beta 3 update is rolling out to developers, but soon it will be available to public beta users as well. If you have installed the iOS 16 beta profile, you can manually check for the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Once the update is available you can download and install the update.
Before updating your iPhone to iOS 16.2 beta 3, make sure to back up important data and charge it to at least 50% to avoid interruption.
