Apple releases iOS 14.4.2 & iPadOS 14.4.2 with Important Security Updates (iOS 12.5.2 too)

Apple releases the second iOS & iPadOS update this week. It is a public update that is available for all users with supported iPhones. Earlier this week Apple released the iOS 14.5 Beta 5 & iPadOS 14.5 Beta 5 for beta testers. The iOS 12.5.2 is also available for older iPhones. Here you will know about the latest iOS 12.5.2, iOS 14.4.2, and iPadOS 14.4.2 updates.

Apple may release the iOS 14.5 RC and iPadOS 14.5 RC build next week. But for now, due to some security reasons, Apple releases the latest public build for iPhones and iPads. So, this could be an important update for Apple users. If your iPhone or iPad running iOS 14.4.1 or iPadOS 14.4.1 respectively then make sure to update your device right away.

iOS 14.4.2 Update

iOS 14.4.2 and iPadOS 14.4.2 updates are available with build version 18D70 whereas the iOS 12.5.2 update comes with build version 16H30.

Along with iOS 14.4.2 & iPadOS 14.4.2, Apple also releases iOS 12.5.2 and watchOS 7.3.3 updates. Although these are not major updates, it is an important update which fixes the security vulnerability on the last update. This is yet another update that addresses the critical security flaws after the last iOS 14.4.1 and iPadOS 14.4.1 updates.

As you know iOS 14.4.2 and iPadOS 14.4.2 are not part of regular updates and these are released to fix known vulnerabilities. And both updates don’t bring any new features but let us know if you find any new features or improvements. Below you can check the changelog for these updates.

Download and Install iOS 14.4.2 and iPadOS 14.4.2

The update is available for everyone with the last public update on their iPhones or iPads. So, if you are not testing a beta version, then you may have already received the update on your iDevice. You can manually check for the update by going to Settings > Software Update. If the update is available click on the ‘Download & Install’ button to get the latest important update.

And if you have installed a beta update on your iPhone or iPad then you will not receive the update. So, to update your phone while on beta, you need to remove the beta profile. You can find the steps below.

How to Remove Beta Profile from iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to General and then Profile.
  3. Now it will show the Beta profile installed on your iPhone or iPad.
  4. Click on the available beta profile.
  5. Then click on the Remove Profile button.
  6. If it asks for the passcode, then enter your device passcode and click the Remove button.

And if your iPhone/iPad running a higher version, then you need to downgrade your Apple device. But it will remove all data from your iPhone. So, we don’t recommend downgrade unless you want to Jailbreak iPhone or iPad.

You can also install the updates manually with iTunes or Finder. You can use IPSW files if you are planning to install the update using your computer.
