Apple released iOS 14 Beta 5 and iPadOS Beta 5 for iPhones and iPads

The latest iOS 14 Beta 5 and iPadOS 14 Beta 5 is out now after two weeks since the iOS 14 beta 4 release. Currently, the developer beta is available and when you are reading it may be possible that the public beta is also out. You can now download and install iOS 14 Beta 5 on iPhones and iPadOS 14 Beta 5 on iPads.

The last beta 4 brings some new features including new widgets, Covid-19 exposure notification, and a lot of bug fixes. And the new beta 5 comes with some new changes especially changes in UI. It’s a big beta update after a long time so we can expect to see a lot of changes including new features. It has a new interface in the Alarm settings to set the timer. If you missed the scrolling wheel then you would be happy to know that it’s back on the beta 5.

iOS 14 Beta 5 and iPadOS 14 Beta 5 – Changes

The fifth iOS 14 beta comes with some notable changes. In the last beta, the COVID exposure notification only works if you have a third-party app on your device. But in Beta 5 you can directly enable it from Settings.

Also, the latest beta comes with improved privacy settings for widgets. If any widgets use location and other data then it will first prompt for your authorization.

Photos app now doesn’t come with hidden album options by default. It first needs to be enabled from settings in order to access from Photos app. To enable it from Settings > Photos > Hidden Album.

Download and Install iOS 14 Beta 5 & iPadOS 14 Beta 5

The update is available to beta users via OTA and you can directly check it from Settings. And in case if you haven’t received the update then wait for some time and try again. And if you are on the iOS 13.6 public stable then you need to install a beta profile to get the update on your device.

You can also install the iOS 14 Beta 5 IPSW file using Finder or iTunes. But don’t try it if you are not aware of it or you don’t find any video guide. Sign Up for iOS 14 Beta Program & Install Beta Profile

  1. Go to the Apple Beta Software program site.
  2. Then scroll down a bit and click on Sign in if you have Apple ID (developer account).
  3. On the next page, select the correct OS for your devices like iOS 14 or iPadOS 14.
  4. Scroll down till Getting Started and click on Enroll your iOS device.
  5. Now you need to install a profile from the next Page. For this, click on the Download Profile.
  6. After installing the Profile, reboot your device. And you are ready to install iOS 14 Beta 5 on your iPhone.

After installing the beta profile, you can go to Settings > Software Update to install 14 Beta 5 on your iPhone & iPadOS 14 Beta 5 on the iPad.
