Apple kicks off fourth beta of watchOS 9.5 for developers

Two months back, Apple started testing watchOS 9.5 on compatible watches. Today, the company has released the fourth beta of upcoming watchOS 9.5 for developers. Apple announces the new beta alongside the incremental iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS updates. Read along to know more details about watchOS 9.5 beta 4.

The fourth beta is small in size and weighs only 189MB, compared to the 461MB of the third beta. Apple is pushing the new beta with the 20T5560a build number. Thanks to the small size, you can quickly update your watch to the new beta. If your watch is already on the third beta, then you may have already received the fourth beta.

If you own a watchOS 9 compatible Apple Watch with an Apple developer account then you can freely install the new software on your watch. At the moment, the upgrade is available for developers, it will be released to public beta testers in a matter of time.

At the moment, there’s no information available about the changes coming with the fourth beta of watchOS 9.5. But we can expect system-wide enhancements and some new features with the upcoming watchOS 9.5 update. Although, we can’t expect much from watchOS 9.5 as we are close to the watchOS 10 announcement which will be revealed at the WWDC event.

watchOS 9.5 fourth developer beta

If your iPhone is running on the latest iOS 16.5 fourth beta, then you can easily update your Apple Watch to the new watchOS 9.5 beta, all you need to do is, install the beta profile on your device and then update it over the air. Here’s how you can update your watch to the beta.

  1. At first, you need to login to Apple Developer Program website.
  2. Then, head over to the downloads.
  3. Tap on watchOS 9.5 beta available under featured downloads. Then tap on the download button.
  4. Now install watchOS 9.5 beta profile on your iPhone, then authorize the profile by going to Settings > General > Profiles.
  5. Now restart your iPhone.

Make sure that your Apple Watch is charged at least 50% and connected to a WiFi network. After installing the beta profile, open the Apple Watch app on your phone, head over to General > Software Update > Download and Install, then install the new software.

Now the watchOS 9.5 beta 4 will download and transfer to your Apple Watch. And after the completion of the installation process, your watch will restart. Once all done, you can start using your Apple Watch.
